i just got my truck back from the body shop, it was hit but is now fixed. the day it was hit i had just put on the flowmaster american thunder dual exhaust kit (50 series suv/perf. muffler). it was working well that day. i got the truck back today and noticed after driving it out and back home that there was a weird smell coming from the exhaust. i dont know how to describe it. almost like a burnt rubber kind of smell? except not quite.. anyone have any ideas?

 

would it be dust and **** from the paint and stuff in the body shop?

its normal, the flowmasters always smell funny for the first week. not exactly sure why i think its burning off whatever inside of the muffler. every flowmaster ive ever put on has done it. also after a week or so the sound will get deeper.

 

I just had true dual 40 flows put on and it's been smelling like that for the past 5 days. i hope it goes away soon because it's rank.

 

Yeah I bet it's the new muffler. I've seen brand new hemi chargers with 5 miles that had exhaust stink like rotten eggs from burning in the new exhaust.

 

That smell is from them welding it together. Ill go away within a weed or two depending on how much you run your truck.

 

ive done flowmaster exhaust never had this smell before.. we'll see how it goes, i sure hope u guys are right

 

most places dont take off the sticker on the exhaust either....they just leave it on and let it burn off....if that happens then sometimes it smells pretty rank too

 

I am interested in getting myself a Flowmaster American Thunder exhaust. Can you tell me anything about your experience in having one? Do you have any sound clips/pictures?
