I think they are crap. At best they make your stock airflow even worse. If you don't want to get a CAI then at least get a free flowing filter for your stock airbox. You won't see much gains, but it's a start. The cheapest thing you can do for mileage is simply maintenance. Make sure your car is running tip top.

turbo gainers make a vortex of air which is what you dont want. You want a steady flow

I am by no means an expert about this topic but it is my understanding that these kinds of products (devices that rotate or “tornado†the air going into your engine) are of some use if you have a carbureted motor where the air and fuel are inherently mixed poorly. The “tornado†action is supposed to help atomize the fuel and aid in a more consistent mixture. I don’t see an advantage on a fuel injected vehicle as the fuel is added when the air is already in the combustion chamber (there are exceptions to this though as in fuel injectors mounted high on intake runners and such). Again, I am no expert but if this worked, I would be shocked that manufacturers don’t integrate this into their vehicles and brag about the awesome fuel economy… It would be cheep and the rewards would be well worth it. I mean, when you’re buying a $45,000 truck, would you pay $30 more for 20% better gas mileage? I would.

Just my .02

Not true, carbed or injected. Those things advertise that they install in your airbox or before the TB and that is exactly what you don't want to do. You need a nice steady stream because it is efficient and, for carbs, allows the venturi to perform at its max. If one would want any kind of turbulance in the intake it would be right after the carb or PFI (absolutely not necessary for FI). And even if I did have a carb I wouldn't use that thing. I would just get a better carb and intake manifold with longer runners.

I can’t argue with your logic. Like I said, I am by no means an expert. But, I am old enough to know that if it sounds too good to be true, hold on to your wallet

Well I think they DO Work!

I had a beenie when I was 6 years old and it had Twin Turbonators on it!
Yep one on each side of my head. And my Schwin Banana Seat bike went faster and got 10 times the milage over the stock non-Twin Turbonator set up.

Granted they were red plastic and spun off the wire a week later, but what a ride. I was the envy of the play ground while they lasted.

Hehe

I do agree with you DeWalt they aren't worth the time or money of installing them.

And who knows they might spin off there wire and lodge in your intake system.
