RE: DODGE RAM TIRES
You did not indicate whether you have a 4x2 or a 4x4. So here's my best guess.
If it's a 4x2, you should be able to go to 285/70-17s without any modifications.
If it's a 4x4, you should be able to go up to 305/70-17s without any modifications, or 315/70-17s with a torsion bar crank.
In any tire change that affects the overall diameter of the tires, you will need to take your truck to the dealership and have them re-program the computer for the new tire size. The computer is set up for tire sizes that are standard or optional from the factory only, or for revolutions per mile (for other than standard or optional factory settings). So it would be a good idea to have the revolutions per mile figure for the new tires when you take it to the dealer to have the computer reset.

go to this site:
http://ejelta.com/tiresize/?ws17=1&
find the overall diameter of the 20" tires dodge uses. convert it to inches and then find what size you can use for the 17. those new dodges are built to accomodate the factory 20's with plenty of room to spare. they are 175-60-20's. these tires are 33" tall. you could go with:
315-70-17 =35.6"
305-70-17 =33.81"
check the site i put on there because there are all kinds of tire sizes listed but you need to check to see whic sizes are available from the manugfacturer you pick. personally, i just got dunlop mud rovers and i love them. next time i will go up another size though. you might get away with the 315's with no mods. i would check it out and if they rub, buy the mods to fix it. no big deal!
