I WAS WONDERING HOW HARD IS IT TO CHANGE THE GEARS MYSELF? I HAVE A 03 1500 SINGLE CAB WITH 5.7 ,COOL AIR INTAKE,AERO TURBINE EXHAUST, 20"TIRES &9.25 AXLE

 

thats something that if your not sure how and if you can do it, DONT DO IT. take it to a shop and let them do it cause it has to be done a certain way

 

Thats a job best left to professionals. The backlash and Pinion depth is critical,if either of these is wrong,you will ruin a new set of gears. You will need special tools to set these depths and a good working knowledge of the rear end assembly to replace the gears. If you are going to do this yourself,I would suggest looking for a rearend already with the 3.92:1 in a salvage yard and swapping whole rear axle assemblies.

 

I agree with horseapples, there are so many shims and the slightest miscalculation will cause a set of chewed up gears.
