Default Warranty & Changing Your Own Oil

For those that change their own oil, are there any potential worries regarding the warranty not being upheld? The dealer could not give me a straight answer and I see from reading on this borad Dodge is actively looking for ways not to provid warranty service. I would like to change my own oil in the new truck but have some concerns.

Just keep receipts and records of oil changes. If there is ever an issue, then you have your records.

Yup, he's right....Just keep a accurate record of all oil changes, including receipts, and you should be fine.

Thanks. I didn't think about the receipts for purchase of the oil & filters, but this as well as maybe the product UPC codes is good advice.

I figure I will have Dodge change the oil the first two times, then I would do the oil, filter, and lube from then on as it is less costly and take less time than taking the truck in.

Just keep all the receipts in an orderly fashion and don't be late with any oil change and you will be fine. Red

In reality receipts does nothing for the back yard mechanic. That oil and filter could have went into any vehicle, proves nothing.

Bottom line is if the oil in the truck at failure time is VERY old it will be obvious, even then it will be hard for DC to void the warranty if you push the issue.
