extended warranty
Ok, my truck is used, just bought it, 56700 miles on it. No warranty. I have an option to purchase 5 years, 100,000 miles extended powertrain warranty for $1450.00 This is a private warranty company (reputable) not Mopar.
Is this a wise move?

The odds are against you needing it but that's why they sell it. Just ensure you have what is and what is not covered. I got screwed on mine when I was getting the tranny serviced the shop said the tranny was going to blow anytime and needed a rebuild. A trusted shop, so no fear of that. I call the warranty place and they say they won't pay for anything until it fails. The shop is $1000 now or $3000 down the road when it drops out. They still say no. They were betting that it would last long enough until the warranty expired andI couldn't chance driving a time bomb. I paid the $1000.

I've had an "aftermarket" warranty on two of the vehicles I've owned. First off find out what they cover, not only parts but do they cover any labor. My warranty only covered parts and that's it. Now what is the deductible? It could be 50-500 dollars find out. Also make sure you tell them, if something goes wrong, that it broke. I made the mistake of telling the warranty company it was worn out and they would not cover it. Granted this part had only 23K on it.
Lastly. Make sure when you take it in for repairs that the service station accepts that warranty company. I've had a few places that did not do business with warranty companies.
