I was thinking about that, just kinda nervous with body shops. Had some bad experiances with the Jeep. How much do you think that it would cost to do the molding? I was also looking at two toning the truck... saw one in a catalog (Styling Concepts I think) that had the same type of red below and a silver/ grey upper. Maybe it would be best to do the molding and paint at the same time. Has anyone done this, and what kind of cost would I be looking at? Has anyone converted one of these scoops to a functional? I heard that it can be done, but I don't want it to be a crap job.

you can. i heard you gotta cut a nice hole in your hood and do it like that. i mean, i know its possible, i 've actually seen someone post on here that they are gonna do it (a month or two ago) and i cant recall who it was. but its possible! i was thinking about doing that too. but i think i just might get the SRT-10 hood instead on of these days... you know, instead of paying the dealer $500 for installation of a fake *** one, ill pay another $2-300 for the real thing. you know?

i wouldnt make that scoop functional...idk what the rams are, but the dakotas are "speed density" which means depending on your speed, the engine determines how much air is "mostlikely" entering the engine and changes the internals to run off this...mass air flow has a sensor that reads how much air is coming into the engine and recalibrates the engine automatically due to what the sensor is reading....in short, speed density cannot change to compensate if more air is actually coming in or not, while mass air does...so with speed density, u wont see any real results, while u will with a mass air flow set up...the dakotas are speed density, so i would assume the rams are too....hope that makes sense and detures you from drilling a hole in your hood.

Well... honestly the only reason I bought the scoop (its from the dealer... it is the same one they use on the rumble bee and daytona) was to cover a huge ding on my hood. I didn't have the money to buy a new hood then, and was just pissed off because it happened like two weeks after I bought the truck. And Nightrunner... I don't think you are bashing... I am looking for peoples opinions... if one thing is clear, on this site everyone has one. There is a lot I would like to do, and of course money is an issue so I have to prioritize... I havebought a lot of new trucks in my short life (27) and I have never been able to leave one stock. I am not about to stop now, and I have myself convinced, at least for the time being, that this is the last truck I will buy. I want to keep it, so I might as well make it the best that I can and make it the way I want it. Unless I hit the lottery, then I will be in the dealership the next day buying a 3500 without the dually's with the CTD, then pimp the bejesus out of it. That would be sweet. Ahhh... one can dream, right?
