K&N Drop in Air Filter

RE: K&N Drop in Air Filter
This seems like an easy debate, if you dont believe dyno numbers and you think it is a waste of time.. dont buy it. If you believe dyno tests, 3rd party that is(the 20 wheel horsepower is pretty much garbage that is advertised) and you don't want to jack with replacing your paper filter and you like the sound of a K&N <insert other CAI here> get one and enjoy. I actually enjoy my CAI for a number of reasons and enjoy ppl telling me how worthless it is even more...

RE: K&N Drop in Air Filter
To save space I'm not gonna quote all that but...
Thats the problem with us cavemen and our math we think in 3 Dimensions not 2. Sorry about that.
Sheesh, hate K&N if you want, that is your right. Hate me I really don't care.
Ijust happen tolike their products.

RE: K&N Drop in Air Filter
I absolutely am not against modding !
There are so many 'good' mods
that Dodge truck owners can spend their money on
and get either
enjoyment,
faster acceleration,
better hill climbing during towing,
better stopping during emergencies
or better fuel economy.
I am also not against modding air intakes.
You want to create an air intake that will
pick up air from a spot with less gunk
and go longer between changes
have less average restriction over the long life
and use a less expensive filter
...it can be done!
You want to create an air intake for fording water...it can be done!
You want to create an air intake that will take advantage of the 'ram air' effect at very high speeds...it can be done!
You want to create an air intake that will do an even better job of filtering so that your cylinder walls and piston rings will last to longer mileages before a rebuild is needed ...it can be done!
You want to create an air intake that pulls air from your air conditioning ducts at such a low temperature (40 degrees F even in summer heat) that the full throttle horsepower gain exceeds the hp needed to run the AC compressor...it 'probably' can be done!
Do you want to be 'ripped off' by several hundred $
by aftermarket CAI sellers making very questionable claims
that don't stand up to independent testing
....unfortunately that is done several times an hour
so that over a year's time millions of $ are wasted.
My simple message is:
DON'T BE A SUCKER
be a smart & savy & skeptical truck owner
using all the knowledge your father and grandfather's generation
worked hard to find out with dependable testing.
All English speaking peoples
should have as a point of pride that
America, Britain and Australia
have led the world is developing the science
of how to do 'good' testing.
The Wright Brother's invention of the airplane is one great example.
Every Patriotic American should learn how to spot lies by doing good tests.
Every greedy person should read up on how
Hedge Funds in the last 20 years have made a three way combination of
the science of testing,
with the use of computers,
and the borrowing of vast amounts of other people's money (leverage)
to make huge profits.
