Default black truck owners help, mine looks bad

I have a black ram. It is my first black truck. How do you make it look good? I have tried hand washing and also washing it at a car wash. Maybe I have the wrong soap, but when I am done it is still grimey. I can wash off the big stuff like mud and the like, it is the road grime that looks bad. Let me know the trick. thanks Scott

The trick is to buy a different color truck, with all due respect. All you hear is how people with blacktrucks are always washing their vehicle because as soon as their done, it looks dirty again. Try the above link and good luck. Red

I bought black because this new Brilliant Black looks GREAT. The metallic flake makes it really shine. It also helps with the dirty look. Kind of helps the road junk disappear.

I am **** about my paint so I wash it every week as long as it is not raining on Sunday's. Waxing it will lighten the cleaning to just rinsing and drying it off sometimes. I just bought a new home and it has a garage so maybe this may move to twice or once a month now, we will see.

But the parts to really do are the rinsing trick. DO NOT spray the truck to rinse it. The flowing water works wonders to keep water spots off, especially after a wax.

It sounds like to me you need a good wash, wax and buff on that paint to get all of those little scratches out of the clear coat. I would pay a pro to do this then you can wash/wax to keep it nice. A co-worker just took his Volvo and now it looks new again. It will surprise you what a pro can do to a clear coat with some time. It cost him $85.

On my 96 Avenger I would wash and wax it regularly and the clear coat is still shiny today. Now that the kid drives the car it is her responsibility to keep it clean. She does not like to wax but I am about to tell her to wash and wax it or park it. I kept the paint in this condition so she can do it too.

Washing and Waxing is good for the soul. It will make you respect the time you spend on the couch

I'd say wash it down and give it a good wax and buff. Just be careful buffing it or you will end up with alot of swirls which doesn't look good on any color specialy black.

on black trucks, u cant just spray them, u have to use a mit and wipe them...if u want to decrease cleaning and make it easiest as possible, look into a sealent. its like a wax, but lasts MUCH longer. best sealent on the market is ZAINO...its expensive, but if u buy their starter kit online, it could cost $100...that will last you longer than a year though.....you can go 6months without resealing your car....i actually enjoy cleaning and detailing my dakota and firehawk and my dads f250 and moms 350z so i actually havent used a sealent on my car, but have looked into it and done it to other vehicles. i think this summer i will zaino my truck...and when i say i enjoy detailing my car, that means i can spend 7+hours min of actual work

white spots are reflections, not cracks or chips....also, this photo is unedited
