You know Big

I basically dont drive my truck much. I tow a small TT gross weight of about 4300lbs. I also tow a little 12ft boat about 400lbs behind the trailer. On ocassion I will drive some trails in Colorado to get to some well hidden fishing holes.. (that is my biggest fear, some of the trails will slice a tire in 2 if you are not careful, but that is exception not the rule).
I use my truck for home improvement a lot... You know soil, plants, wood... blah blah blah.... This is my toy from my tour in Iraq. I just want to enjoy it and make it last, have a nice ride and do a little pulling, little trail riding with it.

My suggestion then would be to get the Avon Tech ST tires. Although, if you do more off-road than on-road, I suggest the BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO.

I know pieces have been covered but hopefully I can fill in the blanks. The speedo will be off, but not drastically. There are online calculators for this. The 20's run with roughly 33's, while the 17's have ~31's. The tow rating is probably because of the load rating of the tires. The slighlty shorter sidewall reduces the load rating of the tires on the 20's. To make up for the larger diameter tire on the 20's the axlesshould begeared lower, to 3.92's from the factory. I believe stockers for the other wheel.tire configuration is 3.5ish. Going with a smaller diameter tire with the lower gearing for the 20's will raise your RPM range at cruising speeds, which will generally negatively affect you MPG. This will also help your towing and acceleration.I weighed all of this into consideration when buying my truck and went with the 20's.I liked the look personally. The load rating is not much different. The sidewalls differ by ~.5". I also figured I can throw a smaller diameter tire on for long haul towing if I want a little more kick from the engine.

Again thanks everyone... I looked at the Avon's for my truck, not much luck there. I saw the GoodYear Silent Armor in a 285/70 17 and I can get them at $153.00 per tire through my wife... I like the look of the tire..... I will keep you all posted.

thats a good price, since TireRack sells it for $178. Sorry that the size you want wasnt made by Avon... they really are an awesome tire!
