thanks guys i think i'm just going to stick with the stock champions...i dont really see the use in spending so much money on spark plugs when the factory says they will work just fine. I just checked out the service manual and it does say not to torque them more than 15 pounds...says to do its actually 13....but i cant seem to find the right gap for the plugs in there anywhere...does anyone have this info...normally the manufacturer just puts it right in the engine bay..atleast all the other trucks i've owned...but i cant find it newhere...anyways that information would be much appreciated thanks guys
9 times out of 10, they'll come gapped correctly out of the box. If you go to the champion web site and go through their application selector, you can find the right gapping. For an '06 hemi they've got the gap listed at .045"

What is the efficiency of having the shorties?
Well, the engine is definitely smoother, and my mileage went up a tad. Definitely cleans up underhood. Its more fire in that cylinder's power stroke than one plug by itself. The stock setup fires the plug on the opposite side that is on its partial exhaust stroke, this was designed with emissions in mind. If you notice though, the crate 5.7 comes with shorties stock. As of 06 and beyond, the single coil was replaced with a dual coil (5.7 and 6.1) and the spaghetti mess gotten rid of. Henson Motors (and a few others) sells a kit to convert the pre-06 hemis to this dual coil arrangement using factory parts.

See the difference?

Ok... they dont look difficult to install. Is it easy? I am thinking maybe I need to go that way.

In Colorado our vehicles have to pass emissions, will this mod not allow the engine to pass emissions? Also, do I just buy the cables or do I have to buy the kits?

I honestly don't know how it will affect an emissions test, but it stands to reason since they switched to the dual coil setup its pretty much the same thing. If you want the Taylors (like I have), its just a box of short plug wires, I got mine used for CHEAP. Even new they aren't exceedingly expensive. If you get them used, just try to find a set they wasn't on there for too long. You pull off your airbox, pull the bracket loom holding the spaghetti in place, pull the the wires, then plug these babies in. Voila! done. You technically don't have to pull the airbox, but it is a HELL of a lot easier of you do. If you want to convert it to the dual coil setup, THEN you will have to buy the kit shown here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tchlink:top:us
This will require alot more work, you have to replace the valve covers, then cut the wires that signal the coils to fire and solder on new connections. Very involved...

thank you. I am not going to do the full mod. I am going to mimic what you did and see what it does to emissions. I dont like the Tangle under the hood..... Thank you for all your help.
