2006 hemi plugs
Hey guys i'm planning to change my spark plugs on my 06 ram. I've read all the past posts and it seems a lot of people have differant thoughts on which plugs to use....i was wondering if i should just use the champions or maybe something else...also is there anything thing special about the 06 and up rams because of the cylinder deactivation i need to take into account? my truck has 60 000 km on it....yeah i live in canada.....no miles here...lol and yes i realize i have just opened myself up to many many jokes about canada. You know this has been beaten all over the place. I stayed with Champion but went to Platimuns. 5000 kilometers later, the truck runs well. You will hear many options on this.
My standard Champions were a little rounded but were good.

Champions or NGK's but not platinums.Platinums won't hurt but you don't need them, they will provide no performance effect in a Hemi. Some say they maybe harmful but I've never seen any facts on that. Most important part, on install, USE A TQ WRENCH! Even if you have to borrow/buy one, and do not use anti-seize on the threads. The money you save frombuying the Champions vs. platinums (which the factory does not require) will pay for a 3/8" inch lb tq wrench (which the factory does require). Just my .50 cents. (I have more money 'cause I bought the Champions)[8D]
I went to 56000 miles on my originals, then got hot stinky deal on some iridiums. Coupled with the Taylor shorties, my truck runs smoother and got slightly better mileage (took me less gas to get to work than normal, couldn't tell you how much better the mileage is, but not much). I figure Ican probably go to 100000 before having to change plugs again.
thanks guys i think i'm just going to stick with the stock champions...i dont really see the use in spending so much money on spark plugs when the factory says they will work just fine. I just checked out the service manual and it does say not to torque them more than 15 pounds...says to do its actually 13....but i cant seem to find the right gap for the plugs in there anywhere...does anyone have this info...normally the manufacturer just puts it right in the engine bay..atleast all the other trucks i've owned...but i cant find it newhere...anyways that information would be much appreciated thanks guys

Taylor makes spark plug wires. They offer a short wire for the 03-05 hemi that gets rid of the stock spaghetti mess and runs from the coil straight to the spare plug for that cylinder. Makes it so that the coil is firing both plugs for that cylinder at the same time.
