The engine symbol (idiot light)came on about a week ago on my '03 Ram Quad Cab (4.7). It has an automatic transmission with the upgraded 5-sp trans - Automatic 5 - 45RFE. Today the "O/D Out" idiot light came on. Considering I will go to my mechanic tomorrow, any ideas what could be wrong. The mileage is 74,895. Help!!!

 

Turn the key off and turn it back on. start the engine see if the lite goes out.

 

If you have the manual on/off function for OD then push on the button on the end of the gearshift and hold it. You'll get another light after this then hold another time and you're set. It's written in the manual about this one.
