So I arrived at the dealership as if something was pulling me there. A force guiding me to the promised land filled with horsepower and testosterone generating images of beastly trucks with all the right looks to match the attitude I craved. It was simple enough. I arrived, expected them to appraise my car, and off I would go awaiting the arrival of my ELOAN check the following day. Seems the Gods had other plans...

The manager asked me what rate ELOAN offered me. I was confident due to being approved before arriving, yet I think the angels were smiling down on me, as I encountered some good sales staff along the way and found myself pinching skin to ensure I wasn't dreaming.

I told him ELOAN offered 9.7% on a 72 month loan. He walked into his office and a half hour laterhe then beat it by1.7% at 8.0%. Honestly I didn't know my credit had improved so much. Just a year ago I struggled to score high enough for the Scion. Amazing thing home owner's equity and good payment history, huh? LOL!

I won't lie. I was very skepical and asked many questions about each paper they presented. I pictured a scam going in, and refused to accept even a hint of rise in the price of anything they offered. I stuck to my guns and as the signing came to a close I questioned the strange math the manager was using. Inflating the purchase price and trade offer? ( He claimed it was due to not being able to report negative equity to the bank, but in my mind I was being screwed, so out came the calulator tool on the old LG CU500. The math jived after I added a few things together. Took a few times due to being tired. I basically told the guy I refused to be f**ked! Turns out he was honest and I believe his co-workers were too. At least to me they were, but I'm the pierced, tattooed, angry Irishman on a mission to not get screwed, so I may have came across as a tad sociopathic in the beginning.

I laughed as the sales kid they gave me tried to increase the price and lower the trade value. Nope! I have two more dealerships to attack after this one, so make it fast and tell me the numbers based on what I agreed to over the phone! They did, it worked, and thank God!

Without the benefit of my down payment handy, I simply financed the entire thing with a payment I can live with. The process was actually very surreal due to fires in the Everglades blanketing Miami and Fort Lauderdale in a haze like smoky glow. Before I knew it I was signing papers and cleaning out the Scion.
Good riddence! Good little commuter car, but not representative of my personality in the least.

So, I am now the pround new owner of a 2007 Electric Blue Pearl Hemi QC Sport with all the fixins!
For those doing purchase research:
MSRP including Navigation, power everything, Sunroof, towing mirrors, floormats, bedliner, leather, and a dream...$40,050
Agreed upon purchase price: $30,000
Trade value offered on the Scion: $12,500
Amount owed on the trade: $13,700
Total amount financed including tax, tag, and title: $36,XXX
Payment \ Term: 611.00\ 72 Months
Level of joy in this 33 year old Irishman: Off the scales brotha!!!!

I plan to make a balloon payment each year of 2-3 K to negate the negative equity and exorbitant interest charges, so I don't regret the decision. I may look into refinancing after a year or so and she'll be an even beter investment than my Rottweiler Bubba! LOL!

Ahhhh, it's so good to be back in a big truck again. I really missed my Lightning this past year.Every truck that passed me in my rice burning, energy efficient, shoebox made me long for the days of enjoying the rumble and ride height only a powerful truck can bring. I will say this though, the Lightning averaged
9-13 MPGon a good day, so I'm loving the Dodgeeven more!!!! It's only been a few hours, and I still am afraid to fall asleep in the off chance this was all just a surreal dream and I will awake with a damn Scion in the driveway! No Doz anyone?

After spending just a few hours with my new Blue fantasy I can honestly say I am now a Dodge loving, admirer of all things Hemi powered!!!! I have no regrets whatsoever. The payment will be take some adjusting, but I ran the numbers many times and it's doable with the raise, bonus, and reduction in HMO costs at the firm. Now all I need is a trailer and an Electric Blue SeaDoo to tow!!!

Given yesterday was my birthday I found myself humming a joyful rendition of "Happy Birthday to me..." as I pulled out of the dealership. I smiled like a kid on Christmas and have been on cloud 9 ever since!

I'll take some pics a.s.a.p and post em here and on the ole Myspace page for good measure.

Thank you to all who stopped by to give their .02 and join in the celebration of it all!

It's good to be aboard...

Thanks Max00racer! The color is still mind boggling to me! Blue has always been my favorite color, but there haven't been too many stock blues on vehicles I have cared for really. The 1996 Dodge SST blue with the racing stripes was hot! So is the blue on the Cadillac SUV's, but the Electric Blue Pearl is the exact color I have always wanted but never really found on a car or truck!

I was up until 2:45 am walking outside, checking on her, looking at her, and feeling like a kid again!

She's a great truck and I look forward to many happy years with her!

Here are some pictures I took with my 1.3 Megapixel LG CU500 phone. Not the best quality, but you get the idea. I'll take some nice ones with my Sony Cybershot soon. Gotta love that blue!
