Thankx all for the welcome...Well made it home and back...My thoughts are as such: From idle to 2250 rpms simply awesome, from 2250 to 2750 it sounds ok, and from 2750 up, at least on the freeway it's pretty mellow and quiet. Overall, if you want to be noticed, i'd get it. I would be interested in how much quieter a 50 series is, but am overall happy with the 40 and will keep it. I have an automatic, and am not a usual driver: I have never had the rpms over 3000, and usually ride street around 1500 and highway around 2000.
This is probably half of my problem, I'm easily agitated with people driving and tend to stick my foot in it quite a bit, so I'm no stranger to 3k...or 5k for that matter. But where my Dakota may or may not have had resonators (I can't remember), maybe that would have made the difference.

I'm still on the fence between trying out a 50 series or getting another brand entirely. Gotta wait till the finances permit me to upgrade anyway

I have some audio clips in another site. Look for the talk of dodge website, if you know what I mean. Search for my userid in the gallery. You'll find some clips for 40 and 50.

Wow....I love the sound of that 50. Wonder if the sound would change much running it through the stock pipe rather than dumping it at the muffler.

I never tried because the 50 is SI/DO. So unless I ran one out the back and the other dumped, hmmm, makes me wonder how that will sound.

Forgot to mention that I used a si/so with factory pipe. Will the sound change over time, ie. as the muffler 'settles' in or will it stay constant? Will post my thought about a long commute tommorow. ttfn
Don't knock 6 cylinders, I smoked a v-8 turbo diesel powerjoke last night on the 10 freeway in Phoenix. 6 cylinders rock!!!
