fuel gauge
yeah this is every vehicle every make every model, i know on a lot of them the bottom is shaped to where it slants in to fit in the hangers so the top half actually holds more gas than the bottom half, i'm not sure about the shape of mine tho as i really havent paid much attention to it, another reason for this is the guage is completely accurate, you ever notice that when you fill up the needle goes a little past full and stays there the longest, then once it drops below the full line it goes the fastest?
I actually think that there is some sort of self adjusting feature in the fuel gauge (I believe I read that in a owners manual, not sure if it was for the Ram or the Dakota I used to have). This way you have a "cushion", a little extra so you don't die in the middle of the highway or something.
its about 3 gallons after the light comes on, and ffmedic is correct there is also a cushion the dealer told me of this when i was buying mine, all vehicles have it, its not much i would never rely on it but there is a small amount
I think the most I dared to go was an additional 30 miles or so... and that was with the trip computer saying 0 miles for all 30. Kind of scarey, but it wasn't sputtering on the way into the pump. So honestly, I have no idea what you would get.
