Which Programmer?
In a previous thread, I mentioned that I had lots of troubles with the SC tuner. I already returned it and not going to get one of those. My dealer told he was going to get me a Diablo, well, Diablo doesn't make one for the Hemi's. So now I need some other ideas. I looked at the HyperTech unit and it looks pretty good but I would like to hear from someone here that has one. Also if anyone has any other tuner, please let me know how it works for you. Right now, I can get the Hyper Tech unit for $300 shipped, almost half the price of the SC. Be back on the site in few hours, have to goto the sister in laws for dinner.

RE: Which Programmer?
I used it for a couple of months as a beta tester and enjoyed. Not a whole lot of difference between it and Superchips. Personally I would stay away from Hypertech...there are some guys that have gotten away with using it but there are even more that have fried PCM's.
Here is some info about BD from the Summit site. Also they have recently added the ability to change tire sizes.
The Power Pup Downloaders are programmers/tuners that download horsepower and performance-enhancing programs into 2003-06 Dodge Ram Hemi 1500, 2500, and 3500 trucks with 5.7L V8 engines. The downloaders offers two different engine tunes above stock to accommodate various driving conditions. Choosing the Stock engine tune will result in no change to engine horsepower output, but all other downloader features are available. The Regular engine tune is recommended for use with 85 or 87 octane gasoline. For maximum effectiveness, end users should increase shift firmness and shift points. This tune can be used for everyday driving and towing. The Premium engine tune is recommended for use with 91 or 93 octane gasoline. Again, increases in shift firmness and shift points are recommended with this tune. This tune can be used for everyday driving and off-highway racing. The Dodge Hemi Power Pups also feature transmission tuning on 2006 trucks, transmission shift points on 2006 trucks, speed limiter adjustment, and reading and erasing diagnostic trouble codes. All operations take place inside the cab with the Power Pups hooked up to the OBDII port.

RE: Which Programmer?
Thanks for the input Helo, I read that on their site as well. I am just waiting to see the numbers portion of the program. If I am going to spend almost $500 for the unit I want it to be worth while.
Holy cow on the Hypertech frying PCM's too. This I did not know. Do you know where I can find out some more info on that. I was really considering Hypertech because it is only $300.

RE: Which Programmer?
Take a look over at dodge talk as well as some of the other forums. I saw quite a bit of stuff on Google as well. The most evil one out there is the Jet chip....Stay WAY away from that one.
I have tried all three, Superchips, BullyDog and Hypertech.
My favorites from best to worst are:
1. Superchips
2. Bullydog
3. ?
4. ?
5. Hypertech
Since you didn't have good luck with Superchips then maybe give Bullydog a try. You can usually pick them up on eBay or other stores for about 300-340 bucks.

RE: Which Programmer?
Thanks again Helo.
Also, I just found out that the Hypertech doesn't do much of anything for the '06 Hemi. 2 Different fuel tunes and DTC checking and clearing. That is it. They don't have all the other goodies that I read about in the intro. No wonder it is only $300.00
Hyper tech is out. Going to try and find a cheap pup.

RE: Which Programmer?
Ok, I am bringing this back to topic. I mentioned that my SC tuner was messing with my engine. Well I was wrong. All those transmission codes and troubles I was having, was an actual problem. Dropped it off at the dealer today and will know more later. Everyone please disregard my comments on the problems that I had. The tuner was fine.
I should have kept my SC. I just hope the pup can do just as good.
