not necessarily on the towing of the boat, it basically all depends on the dock it was unloaded at, i pull a boat with mine about every other weekend and i have never had any of the axels of any of my trucks even come close to the water line.

Anyway to tell about the rearend by looking at it?? Or will it just be a chance I will have to take if I go with the 03. I would hope by the way the rest of the truck looks that he would prevent the rear axles to be buried in the water.

the only way you'd really be able to tell is if it was horribly rusty or by taking the cover off and taking a good look inside...

I agree with Hanson, the last thing you have to worry about with that truck is that the rear end has been submerged from launching a boat. The only axle getting dunkedis going to be on the trailer. But being that he's used it to tow, might be a good idea to plan on servicing the dirveline if it's something the current owner has never done..

Like the others said, compare with KBB, and take itfor a ride.
