Default New and have a question

I have a 2005 Ram 1500 Hemi 4x4 and its time for the 50,000 mile service. Instead of paying the dealer i figured I would do it myself and save some money. I know a little about working on cars (have a land rover), so I should be able to do the service myself. What do they do at the 50,000 mile service?

Thanks for the help.

depends what has been done so far... I'd recommend diff fluid, tranny fluid and filter, oil, brake fluid, coolant, check the brakes out, check tires out, plugs, wires

Transfer case fluid, might as well get the power steering fluid changed out.

Read up on your owners manual and see what service needs to be done. You may have the 545RFE transmission, you want the dealer to service the trans, that transmission has two filters and need to pay close attention to the seal going into the pump, if it done wrong you will loose all foreword and reverse gears. And if you have the 5.7 hemi remove the inner fender wells to replace spark plugs.

Great site for tranny fluid/filter change: http://www.60ateight.com/DodgeRam/ I agree with Hanson as to what you should do and all can be done yourself. Don't be afraid to do it, first time is the learning experience and gets much easier afterwards. Let us know if you have any questions.

Nahh, don't need to remove the fender wells to do the plugs (at least I didn't). The only 4 I had trouble with were of course the last 2 cylinders on the drivers side.
