Default Exhaust installing?

I've never had an exhaust changed. What are somethings I should look out for. I called Big Giant Muffler down the street and for a 50 series 1 in 2 out 3 chamber muffler with chrome tipsit was $325. I've seen some people talk about around $150 . But of course it all depends where you live. Is there anything I should make sure they do?

that price is including the muffler? if it is its a good price. Depending on where you live i would suggest SS tips. They won't rust out like the chrome ones do. But again i live in MN with all the snow and salt so thats why i prefer them. What size piping did they quote you for?

It is including the muffler. I didn't ask how big the piping was.

most likely 2.5" then thats the most common size piping and outlet size for flowmaster. When are you having this done?

I just replaced my muffler on my 07 ram 4.7 literwith a40 series delta flow. I love it. Could be louder but it is perfect for me. I would have to love to put duals on it but it is a lease. If you got the mone to spare I would suggest either a 40 seies or a 50 seris flowmaster single in/ dual out 3" diameter and have2 pipes comeing out of the back. If you dsont have the money t spare just rplace the muffler with a flowmaster. Go to http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/mufflers.html. and listen find the sound you want and get it. Do not oredr it from the website. Go to a local performance parts store.

I was looking at the single in/ dual out. I just didn't ask what size. I got the price for the 50 series, but I may go with the 40. Is there basically only one way to install it all or is there something I should make sure they do? As for when I'm doing, I still have to talk my wife into it. She isn't against the duals because her first veh was a 94 dodge ram with glasspack and dual coming out and she loved it. She isn't thrilled about the $$$$$$$$$$. Could it affect my mileage. I doubt I would not do it for that reason I'm just curious. Is there something to watch out for?

no you can't really do it more than one way, the muffler is one direction flow, theres not a whole lot to choose from on where to run the pipes, just where they come out, straight back, 45's, 90 each side, 90 both to one side, behind or infront of rear tire. It will help mileage if you can ever keep your foot out of it, i know i can't keep my foot out of mine...

We both work for our money, except we are fixing to add on to our house so it is taking priority.

You deserve a muffler. There are no specifics you need to know. You are taking to a muffler shop, they will take good care of you. You just need to get rid of the trash can of a muffler you have on there now. I am actually thinking of getting rid of all my resonators that are on there. Just replace the muffler with dual out and have them bend pipes so they come out the back or what ever style you like.
