Hemi - Upgrade from single exhaust pipe
Hi All. I've enjoyed my Hemi for 3 months now and am thinking of installing a dual exhaust. Are there any benefits (other than the ferocious roar)? Does anyone have any recommendations on a brand?
Thanks,

Dual exhaust will actually lower your performance. You'll make more noise, but will be slower. If you want a better sound run a set of JBA ceramic headers then a exhaust of your choice, flowmaster, etc.
If you are doing a true dual system vs cat-back, to prevent the loss of power, you need to od headers, H-pipe(very important) and dual cats(to be legal). If you do the out, then you need to do the In. Cold Air Intake(CAI). More air means more fuel(bigger throttle body). Bigger TB/fuel more $$. Now if you change tire size drastically, you will need to change gears. Now since everyting in the trucks are computerized, need to reprogram the PCM more $$$. Talk about an domino effect. You can spend an easy $2000 for, i would take a guess 50-75hp and sh*tty gas milage. More and more I think about it, it's just not worth it. Granted the flowmaster upgrade I did to my EX ram gave it a respectable sound and a lil boost in power. It only cost $300. Sorry about the rambling. It all depends on if you have more dollars than sense hahaa(joking).

well, i dont know about ya'll, but we had Flowmaster original 40's with a 1 in 2 out system on our hemi single cab, and it boosted our mpg up to 17 from the usual 14, and it has a definate performance increase. we used 2 1/2 inch tubing on it, and absolutly love it. the truck also has a K&N cold air intake kit on it also, but that was installed 3 months earlier than the exhaust.

EXACTLY Outsider, Since I put my Flowmaster 1 in 2 out, I increased my MPG too. Now I have to work at NOT breaking the tires loose, especially if it's cold. The sound is a little loud inside (i have no kids - and the wife drives her own car), but it does sound pretty sweet.
