Synthetic Oil Change

RE: Synthetic Oil Change
I use Amzoil 5w-30. I drive 42 miles each way to work every day, nearly all highway. I change my oil and filter every 6k, with an additional filter change at 3k miles. I use Mobil1 M1-301 (quart size filters only (smaller micron plus progressive polyester filter media).
The oil comes out darker than new (duh), but always has good clarity, very little solids and never smells burned. Oh, I also add a quart at the mid filter change to make upfor what I lost. It's worked great for me like this for years. This advice came to me originally from a **** drag racer that ran the original HEMI in his slingshot dragster

RE: Synthetic Oil Change
I use Mobil 1, with a Wix filter, in both my wife's Ram and our Wrangler. They both get oil changes every six months. The Ram has around six thousand miles and the Wrangler about one thousand miles by that time.
If you insist on doing extended drain oil changes, 12 months/6,000 miles or more, you may want to switch to a Wix filter. Napa or Carquest, made by Wix, if you can not find Wix. A Wix filter is made so well that it will last up to 15,000 miles with a quality synthetic oil. A lesser brand of filter (Fram, Purolator, ACDelco, Mopar, Motorcraft, etc.) will have to be replaced right around 5,000 - 6,000 miles.

RE: Synthetic Oil Change
I must be missing something, Frist you spend $20 - $40,000 on a class A truck. If you have a loan, you maybe paying $2 - 4,000 interest and insurance of $1 - 2,500 a year. If you drive 15,000 miles a year you are spending $4,000 on gas. NOW YOU ARE TRYING TO SAVE ONE OR TWO OIL CHANGES A YEAR AT $75 EACH.
This old man just doe not understand you youngin's.

RE: Synthetic Oil Change
yep. im planning on changing every 3-4k miles. i just got it changed at about 3300 miles from reg. oil to synthetic. my next oil change will have to include the oil filter and mobil1. it is cheaper to buy your own mobil1 and bring it to your dealer to change for you.

RE: Synthetic Oil Change
Having just been on holiday to Florida from the UK, I thought I'd check out what Mobile 1 costs per 5 liters, as you all seem sooooo keen on replacing the oil and the Hemi maintenance schedule
does say every 5000 miles
At Wall Mart I think it was $14 or thereabouts.
Here in the UK it costs..................wait for it ..................$73.71 approx.[:@]
and a decent filter is $28.35 [:@]
Now I know my American cousins think were crazy paying what we do here in England for gas............what do you think of our oil and filter prices????
