gas milage
My 02 4.7 with a home made cai gets 11.1 in the city, my drive to work is 8 miles one way, most is on the interstate in traffic doing 60 mph. If I drive city streets with stop and go (35mph), I get between 8 and 10. I haven't been strictly hwy for a while but I would get upwards of 18mpg at 70 mph. Dodges are notorious for poor fuel mileage. And I agree, how do these people get 20 plus mpg, going downhill ? I have tried to drive as if an egg existed between my foot and the pedal but that hasn't helped either. Tires are aired proplerly, etc.

Window tint.
Thats it.
No air cleaner, no tuning, no pulleys, no exhaust mods, nothing.
Just a very very thirsty pickup, im assuming.
Hopefully when I get into a Sport, which is lighter, it will be better off.

The only thing I can think of for you is maybe doing a tune up. I now this sounds bad as your truck is farely new, but you can not rule out a fowling plug or wire or something stupid like dirty injectors.
All I have is a drop in K&N and the superchips with premium fuel and I can get over 20 going 60-65 on flat ground. Town is a lot of stop and go for me, and I get about 12 because of my lead foot. I took an aggressive approach to break in, by varying periods of strong acceleration and cruising on the interstate.
I have owned a lot of stuff and still do!
If he likes the Subaru then you will have accept that. Buy what you like and like what you buy – or as is often said in the car business – there is a seat for every *** and an *** for every seat!
Subaru’s are good cars! I have had one. Sold it, they had it for several years and then totaled it and came to me looking for another one. I told them I sold them only one I had. I bought it used, two years old. Drove it two years and then sold it. I never had any repairs and only a little (very little) maintenance. My brother in-law bought a new Forester within the last year. He’s happy. (He also has an older full size Ford bronco 460 – he doesn’t pass any gas stations with that.)
I worked as service manager in a Subaru dealership once a while back. Couldn’t believe the absence of warranty claims – people didn’t come in with problems.
You can’t compare Forester vs a Ram. Night and Day!
I love my Ram and my Dakota. The Ram is thirsty though.
PS - with 4 wheel drive Subaru’s don’t get stuck too often.

Right now its sitting at 7610 and when it was brand new, it got 9 !!! Im telling ya, for some reason, my truck is thirsty !!! I have even had it on a long distance trip from VA to IA to VA in a weekend (2000+ miles) and thought that would have helped out but, nope. I mean, it runs strong, dont get me wrong, its just drinking this 87 octane like its going out of style....
