Default gas milage

I have a question for the 3rd gen folks. I have friend currently looking at a subaru forester, and I asked him he has considered the ram 1500 with mds.

so with all that said doe they still offer the mds in the ram?
and if you have a ram 1500 with mds what fuel consuption are you getting?

I will be monitoring this for the 20-30 min before place the call to try to get him to go dodge.

Depends on how he drives and the mods that he will get will also show different gas mpg's. Comparing the forester to the ram though is huge. The subaru will get better mileage no matter what.

With all these gas mileage posts, it makes me wonder. I see guys saying they get 14-18 city with almost 20 highway. What gears are you guys running? Mine has the 3.92 with 20's and I have to try my BEST to get 12 around town. And by try my best, I mean using less than 1" of travel on the gas pedal, coasting in neutral whenever possible, not running a/c, on a really cool night, and it still hovers around 11.2 - 11.6 according to the overhead monitor.

On the other hand

I have raced a few other trucks like mine and I win by at least 2-3 lengths. Maybe mine has a different tune, who knows, but it loves to run, hates to cruise. Do others have this same condition?

Oh, to answer the original poster, I get 11 city, 16 highway.

Right now its sitting at 7610 and when it was brand new, it got 9 !!! Im telling ya, for some reason, my truck is thirsty !!! I have even had it on a long distance trip from VA to IA to VA in a weekend (2000+ miles) and thought that would have helped out but, nope. I mean, it runs strong, dont get me wrong, its just drinking this 87 octane like its going out of style....

What do you have done to your truck? I checked out your pics and it looks stock. Maybe some of us can ched more light on your problem if we knew a little more.

Window tint.
Thats it.
No air cleaner, no tuning, no pulleys, no exhaust mods, nothing.
Just a very very thirsty pickup, im assuming.

Hopefully when I get into a Sport, which is lighter, it will be better off.
