Default SRT-10 airbox

After seeing that the v6 and 4.7 liter Rams get the same airbox as the Hemi, it got me to wondering how the SRT-10 airbox would work. Anybody got a pic of the V10's airbox? Think it'd bolt into other trucks?

I simply refuse to pay $250+ for some piping and another filter in the name of an "intake kit." An OEM intake box could be the ticket, especially if bought from SRT-10 owners who've upgraded.

I know of a couple SRT owners that "upgraded" to CAI's and lost a couple HP on the dyno.

The airbox is not in the same location so it would take tubing to get it to the TB. It would be easier to get the stock airbox on the V8 models to pull air from the wheel well rather than re-pipe to the TB. I will take pics of the SRT airbox tonight and show you where/how it pulls air vs. the V8 airbox.

See what I mean about the factory airbox? It's a good design - I was just looking for more filter area and I assume the SRT-10 has it. I did find one pic showing the box has a different point of entry than the "regular" truck's but it looks like my stock tube would fit it, unless the tube's diameter is also larger.

Coming up with a replacement tube is still easy compared to making the entire box yourself. I think I have a winner with getting more air into the stock box; doing so with the SRT-10 box just sounded even better.

You can see in the pics, box is sealed and pulls air from the fender well.

There is not a bigger filter, actaully it is smaller. More square than rectangle.

Interesting that it's got a smaller area of filtration. It looks like I'm going to enlarge the front opening on the stock Hemi intake box. I looked at going to the fenderwell but that'd put rain & other nasties right into the intake during bad weather.
