RE: cold air intake
I have a 2004 QC 4x4 with the 4.7 Liter engine. I installed an Airaid Modular Intake Tube and a Borla SI/SO Muffler. My first full tank after the install got me 70 more miles before the low fuel light came on. I was getting about 220 miles on 22.5 gallons and I am now getting around 290miles on the 22.5 gallons. It comes out to around 3mpg more. It may not be 4-6mpg, but it responds better and it sounds great.

RE: cold air intake
Okay, I hope people look at this post again. I searched high and low through this forum. I have read mixed things, so before I go an post a repeat, I'll see how many responses I get.
I had the stock on for about 3 weeks, I installed the liberty intake, removed the nozzle at the stock filter box and I was averaging 17.5mpg. 2 more mpg than before.
As soon as I replace the stock muffler with the Flowmaster 40 Dual Out dumped, my mpg dropped to about 16mpg or 15.9. I was getting 15-15.5 with the 40 and no Intake.
Questions:
1. Is it true that Dual exhaust hurt mpg? so far I am believing it.
2. Flowmasters suck as far as mpg is concerned? so far I am believing it.
3. Should I keep a SI/SO format but with another brand? Borla, Magna? Almost everyone says so, but their sound sucks on a V6.

RE: cold air intake
Never heard of that. My gas mileage dropped as well with my set up but I put my foot into alot because I love the sound. It is kinda hard to baby the truck for 300 miles just to check mileage anymore. Another thing that can change your gas mileage is what kind of gas are you putting in. Better gas such as Chevron, Shell and so on will work better than running American Eagle or some other generic gass station that puts alot of additives in there gas. Yes, they are the same octane, but it is the mixture that is the key. Your setup should not have hurt it at all, unless you are like me and find yourself laying a little more into the gas because of your dumps.
