Idiot light and I'm the idiot!
The wife was driving and noticed an idiot light on her 2002 Ram 1500 ST...it's the shape of the alternator and is yellow, but I'm still not too sure the pic is really the alternator...could it also be a tranny light? Seems to be upper left next to voltmeter. Any help appreciated!
Agreed. Recently moved, and manual, to the best of my knowledge, is in a bankers box among 50+ others in one of the sheds I rent to hold all of the stuff I never see and don't miss...except when I really need it like now!
Haynes manual was just ordered a few minutes ago. THX.

I don't have a manual for a 2002 but here's the 3rd or 4th page of the 2007 manual. Maybe it will help.

Hey guys...thanks for all thr respones! You are all correct...it is/was a check engine light. I did the on-off trick found on this forum, and discovered a Pcode of 0303, which corresponds to a misfire on cyl 3. Limping it to Kragen tomorrow for a fresh set of plugs (it's first tune-up! OMG!), and thinkin I might need a new coil for that cylinder as well. Now need to discover how to do all of the above...L&R's hemitruck link will serve me well until the Haynes arrives! Any clues are welcome...I don't have a compressor handy in this new town, so it looks like compressed air can from the puter room will hafta do!
