New dodge
hey guys i am new to the forum and i just got my dodge on september 22 i have a silver 5.7 hemi with 20's on it and the slt package. what do you suggest is a good first upgrade in december i am going to be getting a sound system but i am just looking for things to make the truck better while i am waiting for my sound system. Also does anyone live in arkansas or around there.
Welcome!
The mods you do depend on what you want from your truck and the budget. I was gonna do an exaust (and they do sound great) but I often have the wife and kids in the car and on a long ride, the noise get's old pretty quick.
You can do some sort of K&N filter upgrade, get accessory fog lights if you don't have any, get a better bed liner than the plastic slip in these trucks often come with, get your windows tinted.....
One thing you should do right away is check your tire pressure. 35psi works pretty well (unless you are hauling stuff). My HEMI came with 20's with 42psi in the tires and the ride was pretty harsh because of it.

The first thing I did was replace the stock muffler, but as mentioned earlier this may be a problem if you have a family. Seeing as I am not married, nor do I have kids, this is not a problem for me. The second thing I did was add nerf bars. In my opinion, they really add to the overall look of the truck. The next thing I am looking into is getting a spray-in bedliner.
I thought the same thing about an exhaust being too loud for the family, I checked out a Magnaflow and it sounded nice. Barely hear it at idle, but you can hear a humming on the freeway. When you step on it, you forget all about the rest ! The nerf bars are also a good idea, I think they look great, and make it easier for us shorter people to get in the truck !! Good Luck with your ride !
The first MOD I made was a cool air intake. Next will be a set of JBA ceramic headers....Hopefully after that superchips will have their programmer ready so I can tweak the performance a bit. My major MOD will be a supercharger once they become available

I know the first thing that i am going to do is replace the interior lights, then i think i am going to get windows tinted 10% on back and 25% on front windows i have a regular cab if i never stated that befor. Then muffler and while i am waiting to save up all that money for the muffler and the windows i'm just going to upgrade the interior. this truck is 4x4 but am going to keep it on the street for the most part. will post pics up soon of my truck (is there any certain place you would like me to do that?). Does anyone here know what kind of bulbs go in for the map lights and the dome light above the back glass? what kind of street tires would you guys recommend? Do any of yall know of any truck clubs, dodge clubs or anything like that? if you live around arkansas send me a line and we could start something up.
I really like the dual exhaust setup I have on my HEMI. Flowmaster (part # FLO-17375) got it form summitt, paid about $350 for it, came with muffler, all tubing to run it out the back or the sides, and chrome tips. Along with all the clamps and hardware, it was a do-it-yourself kit. Would have sucked to have had to install it laying on my back in my driveway, but I work at a dealer so just put her on the lift and got 'er done, real simple install, hardest part was removing the stock muffler.
Sounds means as hell, on my previous truck I just ran straight pipes back from the converter, DROVE ME NUTS. This time around I was looking for something to be quiet and idle, and while cruising down the highwah, but I wanted it to sound mean as hell when I put it to the floor, and this kit did EXACTLY that.[sm=icon_cheers.gif]

Hey, I'm new as well. What an awesome site. I've had my 04 1500 quad cab with the Hemi since April. Great truck!! I have put the Cold air intake from K & N and it really helped with the throttle response but I have heard that I should get the computer reprogrammed! Has anyone else heard of this?

Congrats on the new truck, got any pictures?
