No they are not. They are routed from the rear speakers(they said no amp needed.) I tried them on the amp and they didnt wanna work so oh well. But anyway why would it be that it sounds bad with the bass up? But also with this new head unit the subs hit HARD now!!

Usually, component speakers are run through an amp (tweeters for the highs, doors for the mids)... so if they are not going through an amp they may be getting distorted... plus they have crossovers built in that allow only the highs to go through the tweeters and the mid range to go through the doors, and the amp would cancel out or crossover any of the bass. As for having to turn your amp on all the time, look at your amp, there should be a single 10 or 12 gauge wire going to it... this is the remote turn on switch. Like for my system, I can shut off the amp by hitting the LOUD button, basically shutting off power to this wire. If you wired it to a circut that is hot whenever the ignition is on, it will turn the amp on without having to hit the button on your screen. If they said no amp is needed, and your doors are not powered and not having any sort of filter cancelling out the bass, then you got taken by this install place. Your sub should take ALL of the bass, none should be coming from the doors, and because your tweeters are trying to play the lows, mids and highs, they are sounding distorted when they are turned up. You are going to destroy those speakers. You shouldn't even be playing the lows over your doors... this is going to cause distortion as well. Sorry man...

If there are crossovers between the door and the tweeter, it could be that they are not working or tuned properly. If they are, then not having an amp are not allowing enough power to come through to power the tweeters. The majority of the reason behind me buying a 4 channel amp is to put in components at some point, knowing that components need an amp to run them. I don't know of any decent components that don't require an amp. Are your doors stock?

Looks good, 1000 is a little high, however if anything happnes with the motorized portion of the unit then teh money for the warranty and instal will pay for itself. I think you got a decent deal and the company cc will back there stuff.

I would seriously consider that the cross-over is not working. If you take the sub off the amp and crank it up how do the tweeters sound? Did you get new tweeters or are they stock?
