so you own one? do you have snow where you live? how is it?
Yes, I do. Yes, I do. This truck is awesome in every aspect. Well, except for steep hill climbs on loose moist dirt. The thing weighs too much for those obstacles. That is why I also have a Wrangler Rubicon. For the more difficult trails.

The PW has made me drool ever since it came out ( about 6 months after I bought my 1500 Hemi, of course). I got a 1500 'cause I figured the 9200lb. tow rating was way more than I needed for a roughly 2500lb. boat, but if the PW was out, I'd have jumped all over it.
I could have gotten a 2500 ST off the lot w/Hemi for a little less than the 1500 Laramie I bought, as the power everything and leather seats got me. In hind-sight I should have gotten the 2500, because as I learned when I starting modding it for off-road use, there are many, many advantages to the solid front axle (cheaper & higher lifts, more strength, front LSD and/or locker options to name a few). My last 1500 (a '98 with 360CI) had a front axle, so I really didn't do my homework about the newer IFS.
That said, my next truck will be a Diesel, yes, the PW has some off-road advantages that the CTD can not match, but although I play off-road quite often, I'm not a hard core rock climber or mudder.
Diesel just has too many advantages -- MPG's, 15,000 miles between oil changes, torque, bio-fuel and can you say "1,000,000 Mile Club" to name a few...

you can really go 15,000 miles between oil changes?!? doesnt the oil break down, regardless of the engine or is the diesle somehow easier on it?

what i probablly end up doing is going to the dealer and see if they can give me one of thoes crazy deals on last years model or something but i would be suprised if my local dealer had anything in a stick especially a diesel. if i have to order something though i think im going with the power wagon

Got a good hunting/fishing buddy up in Ga. with an 2nd gen. CTD, delivers air conditioners all over the country for his brother-in-laws business that I think manufactures them (I'm talking those huge ones that you see on the roofs of hospitals, big factories, etc.).
I was talking about needing an oil change when I got home (Fl.), and I was too cheep to pay for one there when my dealer does it free every 3,000 miles for 3 years as part of the deal.
He started laughing and said "3,000 miles, what a piece of crap you drive, my manual says I need one every 30k or 15k with lots of towing or running in a hard environment."
He's at something like 385k miles and has not had to do anything other than scheduled maintenance yet!!!

Re: Last years model...
I would jump on a discounted 2006 Power Wagon if you can find one you like. Remember, these things get 10mpg and the Dealers need to move out the"last years"models fast. I paid about $35K in April of '06 for my 2006. You probably can get a 2007 now for that price.
There is very little changed between the '06 and the '07 Power Wagon. Unlike the 2005 to 2006 which was quite a major revision.
New for 2007:
Remote start (avialable option, with auto trans)
Tip start (?) with auto trans. (WTF is this?)
Active turn signal lane-change feature
Power Accessory Delay (now standard)
Taillamps (now uglier!)
Headlamps (deleted the amber stripe on the bottom)
Center dash bezel is now silver instead of Maple burl
Stain/odor resistant, antistatic treated cloth seats now standard.

First and formost I would like to say that I love my new 07'Power Wagon( with a six speed). It is my sixth dodge that I have owned and all but two have been ctd.I have only posted one other time on this sight so I am new.Their are a few things that bug me about my truck but they are minor mostly gas mileage and the new blinkers but I am getting used to them.
Before you pass judgement on this truck you should drive one... saying that just made me want to go drive.LATER!!!

if you bitch about how much gas it uses you cant aford it

colum2515,

If there is one thing I regret it is not getting the 6 speed tranny. I had an '06 Power Wagon with an auto tranny and I swore I was going to get a 6 speed when I got another one. There is no doubt that the crawl gear on the auto is lacking for offroad use, especially rock crawling. The manual tranny somewhat makes up the torque difference between the deisel and Hemi with about double the gear ratio in low.

Well, six months went by between me losing the '06 and looking for another Wagon and I just kinda forgot how bad I wanted that manual tranny. So,I found an '07 on the dealer lot with everything I wanted in it - but with the auto - and I talked myself into believing the auto tranny would be ok. I'm so pissed off at myself. I got caught up in the excitement of having my truck back and I made the deal! I definitely should have just waited and ordered the truck with the manual tranny.

Oh well, just had to get that off my chest. I'm stuck with it now.
