Power Wagon?

colum2515,
If there is one thing I regret it is not getting the 6 speed tranny. I had an '06 Power Wagon with an auto tranny and I swore I was going to get a 6 speed when I got another one. There is no doubt that the crawl gear on the auto is lacking for offroad use, especially rock crawling. The manual tranny somewhat makes up the torque difference between the deisel and Hemi with about double the gear ratio in low.
Well, six months went by between me losing the '06 and looking for another Wagon and I just kinda forgot how bad I wanted that manual tranny. So,I found an '07 on the dealer lot with everything I wanted in it - but with the auto - and I talked myself into believing the auto tranny would be ok. I'm so pissed off at myself. I got caught up in the excitement of having my truck back and I made the deal! I definitely should have just waited and ordered the truck with the manual tranny.
Oh well, just had to get that off my chest. I'm stuck with it now.

well not me when they say ive got nothing in stick im walking away.
The early PW's were only offered with auto's, so some people had no choice in the matter if they needed to buy...
Myself, I only wantedthe Auto. I still have another truck with a stick, and my Cobra only came with a stick in 2004. My Power Wagon is now my daily driver, so I didn't want to do the whole "stop and go traffic thing" in a big heavy truck with a Granny-low 6 speed. The only thing worse than that would be a CTD with a 3000 rpm redline and a 6 speed. Thatwould be a constant shifting hell...

There are plenty of on and off roadsituations where a goodauto is superior to a stick. Especially if you've got a good motor with low end grunt. Shifting on Steep, slippery surfaces immediately comes to mind.
I agree that the low range doesn't seem that low with the auto, but that is not all that bad considering the e-lockers only work in 4LO anyway.

i didnt think of granny low thats a good point but i would still rather have a stick stop and go traffic doesnt bother me. the only car it was ever a concern in was my trans am and then the cltuch was so stiff if i had to hold it or push it to many times my leg went numb
hell of a work out. i hate when company only offer thier "sports" cars in an auto if it doesnt come with a stick it cant be much of a sports car. (dont yell at me i know there are plenty of fast autos ect. its the pricipal)

yeah the challenger looks pretty sweet. they made a prototype and everybody liked it, then an amazing thing happened they f'n made it not like everybody else who completly changes it till you cant recognize it anymore and then wonders why it didnt sell like expected.

Re: Last years model...
I would jump on a discounted 2006 Power Wagon if you can find one you like. Remember, these things get 10mpg and the Dealers need to move out the"last years"models fast. I paid about $35K in April of '06 for my 2006. You probably can get a 2007 now for that price.
There is very little changed between the '06 and the '07 Power Wagon. Unlike the 2005 to 2006 which was quite a major revision.
New for 2007:
Remote start (avialable option, with auto trans)
Tip start (?) with auto trans. (WTF is this?) --->A quick turn and release of the ignition key and the starterturnsoff automaticallyafter themotor starts
Active turn signal lane-change feature
Power Accessory Delay (now standard)
Taillamps (now uglier!)
Headlamps (deleted the amber stripe on the bottom)
Center dash bezel is now silver instead of Maple burl
Stain/odor resistant, antistatic treated cloth seats now standard.
