Default Power Wagon?

Next year i am considering getting a power wagon do you guys think its worth the money or could i just install the lockers and stuff in another truck my self and have an equal, maybe better truck for less? Obviously the power wagon comes all setup already and not having to do anything is a big selling point but it will be difficult to afford.

Does anybody know anything about these any annoying tendencies, is the winch any good etc? if the winch isn't any good can it be changed reasonably easily theres a hydraulic winch i saw that i wouldn't mind putting in if it would fit. I saw one post on here claiming it was underpowered any truth to that? how high can you lift it with out to many major modifications, it needs bigger tires.

One last thing i saw the 2009 ram pics on here you guys think they will still have a power wagon or if it would be worth it to wait? One thing i saw made it look like if you wanted a stick you would have to get a less powerful engine which is totally unacceptable. any way any opinions, thanks allot guys

Personally, the power wagon is my dream truck, yea you can do all the lockers and mods yourself for cheaper, however I love buying the truck the way it is. I've talked to a few power wagon owners and have been told the winch has pulled them out no problems and can drag the truck with ease all wheels locked. But something tells me they will discontinue them for 2009 like they did the srt 10's for 07. Just my .02

I agree with Hanson... buy the CTD and pimp out your own ride. I see a lot of posts up here with problems with the winches (usually simple grounding issues, but in my opinion, when you spend that much money on anything it should run perfect) and the lockers. You will save money doing it yourself, can put the exact components in that you want for the jobs you want them to do, and get to bask in the glow of building a great truck. I like the jeep saying of "Jeeps are built, not bought"... I think the same of trucks.

thats pretty much what i was thinking which is why i asked. Correct me if im wrong (good chance) but what i was thinking i dont see to many parts the biggest lift i saw was 4" maybe 6" i dont remember but my thought was if it starts out higher than with the same lift ill obviously have more clearance, plus since everything is factory installed when the stock parts prove to be insufficient i can still use the switches and stuff for the upgrades and maintain a stock appearance.

I think that the powerwagon is like an inch taller then my 2500 (same chassis). I don't really know where they get their inch, if they are body spacers, or just a differant suspension. I think the CTD is just a better engine, and the money you spend on engine mods really pay off... programmers for the hemi only get you 10 or so hp, on the CTD a programmer gets you over a 100 hp... and they cost about the same. I wish I had bought one, and if I had the money I would have. But you can get a 6 inch lift and throw some 37's under it, and you are already ahead of the game, especially with the CTD. At least that would be what I would do. And if you want the PW switches and stuff, you can probably get them through the dealer or junkyard if you want the factory look of the PW

yeah your right, but its only a 6cyl and the smaller engine has more power?!? [sm=yikesomg.gif]plus it sounds like a school bus
a diesel is alot more waterproof though isnt it? (not actually waterproof though right?)
