I have the liberty intake attached to the filter box. I havent replaced the filter box yet with a cone. The sound in mine is the same, I guess when I loose the box it will sound different? I dont know. I am thinking on removing the bent tube at the intake of the filter box. It is pointing to the inside wall of the engine bay. Just for kicks to see if more air flows in. What I am afraid off is getting water in and hydrolockingthe engine. I see people extending the tube all the way to where the foglights are. I wouldnt personally. So far, I just checked my mileage doing the math and I have increased my MPG to 17.7 from 15.5. I drive it the same. I could be that my gas needle is stuck in half a tank, but so far I have driven 230 miles and estimating 13 gallons used. I will get real numbers in the next fill up.

By the way the Liberty intake is OEM Jeep part = Dodge. It says 3.7 V6 on the tube. The only problem, the stock sensor harness does not fit in the new tube. You have to remove the old sensor from the Stock box and place it in the Liberty intake. It fits snug enough, I dont think it will come out. AND the other end of the intake fits really tight on the stock filter box. But so far so good, its OEM and it was only $27.

I have the K&N G-2 cold air intake on my trucks. It sounds real nice to me.You do get better MPG to. You get some more HP but not a lot. To me cold air intake is the way to go.
But that is just me.

I'm still thinking about doing the liberty intake, but can't decide if I just want to buy an intake and not mess with it. Eltupac did you have to cut any wires to do the sensor switch? I'm still under warranty and don't want to mess with that if I would have to. Also I know in the old post when they talked about the Liberty intakesomeone said you would have to get either the Airraid intake or fab up something to run a hose. To me it looks like you could just put a K&N cone on it. If you had to do an Airraid then you might as well just buy an intake with a tube because there over $200

That hose is attached to the stock air filter box. If you remove the box then you have to the fittings for the tube. Yes, I had to cut wires for the sensor because it would not reach where the sensor is located in the Liberty Intake. I basically extended the wires by using but connectors and putting them into a wire tube to make it look neat. Nothing is going to happen since its just extending the wires. I'll post pictures when I get a chance.

Thanks. I'll have to look again I looked at mine and didn't noticea hose. So back to my question would a K&N work to replace the stock filter box or would you need an Airraid or K&N with the heat resistant box. Also on a different topic I see you listed that you did the powerwindows. Did you use that kit you gave me the link to awhile back? How was the install?

Honestly, I wouldnt know since I never looked into them. I removed the turn tube at the intake of the stock filter box and it changed the sound of the engine. It does sounda bit meaner, specially opening her up.

Dude, you wont believe it. I found the door panels and switches from a 2005 SLT on ebay. Then I found the harness in ebay too. Bought the regulators from dodge parts.com cheap. Everything came out to be about $500.If you can go to a junkyard and get all those parts, you can get it to look stock. The power locks dont work with the switches though. Before I forget, the door panels in the back are the same for power and manuals, so dont buy them. The switches fit in the hole of the manual window crank.
