Audio question...which to do first???
I have a few hundred dollars I want to put into some new audio equipment for my 07 QC.Which should I do first:
New headunit and stock speakers or stock headunit and new speakers?
I know there are some issues with the 6x9's,what a direct fit without having to do modifications??

I'd do the headunit first. The factory speakers arent actually horrible and just a HU will improve sound quite a bit. For speakers, someone on here said that a set of alpines will drop right in. Hopefully they can chime in witha little more info. As for me, i added infinity and had to do a tiny bit of modification to make them fit but definately well worth it.
yeah i agree the head unit would be the first thing you wouldnt want to get new speakers and then have them be under powered with the stock **** i have done that before and fried the speakers it was bad i was pissed
Head unit, then amp with subwoofer, then 4 channel to power doors with components to replace the doors. Make sure when you buy your head unit that you have 3 sets RCA preouts in the rear of the head unit (front speakers, rear speakers and sub) this will allow you the most control of your sound system.
HU first for sure. I have a pioneer and itis great. As for speakers - Kicker 5.25s in the doors (I bought a 5.25" adapter plate for the 6x9 holes so I wouldnt have to mess with getting them to fit. But I eventually will get some 6x9s. In the rear I have a set of Kenwoods - very good speakers. After that get some bass. I have a 12" Kicker CompVR that dumps pretty good hooked to a 1000W Profile Amp.
Make sure you get a head unit with RCA outputs for all audio outs. Meaning that it has F, R and S RCAs, so its easier to hook up to your amps later on.
Nevermind, Medic beat me to it. Sorry did not read.

OK, I know this is going against the grain ,but I would do speakers and an amp if it fit into the budget. I did that on my last truck and never ended up replacing the HU. A good amp with clean power and some good speakers really make such a huge difference.
You can't go wrong with a new HU either. Where ever you start things are looking up for your truck.

I was thinking the same thing, but then I realized that for the stock HU, I would have to modify the wires to fit the RCA of the amp or buy wires at Radio Shack that connect - & + to an RCA. Then when I buy the new HU, I would have to buy new RCA cables to connect RCA to RCA.
Either way you spend money. I guess you are right. Buy speakers and amp first, buy your wire to RCA connector and enjoy the stock HU with nice sounding speakers.
Dont forget the sub or else you'll never feel the lows.
