True Dual Exhaust Question!!
Hey guys, I know I'm a little out of my ballpark with owning a dodge neon here, but this question replies more towards my brothers truck, and I wanted to know if you guys could help me out! This morning we dropped my brothers 1995 F-350 off at the exhaust shop. We had them run a true dual off the manifolds using 2.5" piping all the way through. We used Flowmaster's newest and baddest mufflers, "The Super 44's" for his truck. Well heres the question. When we picked it up today, we noticed it was loud as hell and hall and sounded really good, but there was something awfully weird about it the sound at times. It had this very weird like raspy pinging noise, almost as if it was misfiring, and it just sounded almost half ***, and at times, embarrassing, especially after all the $$$ we dumped into the exhaust and all of the components. Is this weird noise coming from the fact that there is no H-PIPE or X-PIPE on the truck, and if so, which do you recommend putting on the truck. I love these mufflers, but it gets ruined with this weird noise that comes in half way through hard acceleration, and its sad, cause its such a big truck (7.5L, 460ci) and it sounds like a little civic at times, help would be nice guys, thanks!!
Maybe the exhaust amplified another problem, when was the last tune up? And by tune up I mean the whole 9 yards.
Oh and check for leaks.
Gawd I can't believe I'm talkin Ford stuff

Haha, and I thank you for the time as well! Well I think the leak is exactly what it could be. The guy who put it in said that there was somewhat of a leak where the new piping butted up against the manifold's collectors, he told me to try and clamp it down a little more after the piping had been worked in more in about a week. So are you convinced that if we get those leaks tightened up near the manifolds, that would eliminate the strange raspy noise, or do you think some kind of cross over pipe is still necessary? ONce again, thank you for bairng with the FORD, haha, you guys rock.
HAHA now c'mon, did I really think i could get on this dodge truck forum and not expect a little hassle lol. But yeah I think you are completely right, they should definately fix the leak, you can hear it at low idle when the mufflers aren't interfering with your hearing, but i know this system has got to have a lot more potential, how can you go wrong with two super 44 flowmaster mufflers, ya kno??
