hey i recently got a dodge 1500 2003 from a dealer and it has exhaust and the whole nine yards already. It sounds nice, but i was wondering if there is anyway to make it sound louder and deeper? or is the only way to do that is by getting a new and better exhaust system? and also, i was wondering whats a good price for a leveling kit and is it better having it leveled or what?

What exhaust do you have and how much of it is after market? Are your cats still on? Do you have a true dual, a single to a dual, or a single out pipe set up?

 

Search the diy for the leveling kit for these trucks. I am ordering one right now. As far as the exhaust, throw a flowmaster 40 on it...I can't believe that you'd want to go any louder

 

Your car will be louder if you put some subs up in that mother......ha ha ha.

 

i have a 4.7 with the super 40s on it and my boss has a 4.7 with straight pipes...apparently its legal in the state of texas as long as you leave your cats on. his sounds much better than mine, but might be louder than you are wanting. check into the laws in your state and find out if it is legal to run no muffler or resonators as long as you have your cats. another interesting thing i learned is that on any vehicle with a turbo system, the turbo counts as a muffler, so you dont have to have cats or mufflers or anything as long as it doesnt break any noise ordinances and still passes emissions. this applies mostly for diesel engines, but if you wanted to argue it, could probably be made to include any engine. one of my buddies has a cummins with straight pipes and he keeps a page copied out of the DOT handbook in his console, so if a trooper ever gives him grief about no mufflers, he can show him the law where it says an "exhuast gas operated turbocharging system will subsitute for a muffler".

 

i have the super 40 on my truck and its perfect, loud but not obnoxious

 

I have a Magnaflow universal muffler on my truck it sounds great and its loud when i want it to be. you could also just remove your muffler and have a y pipe out the for dual tail pipes. but that is too loud for me

 

Lop the whole thing off and run an open exhaust... don't know if its legal where you are, but it will be loud.

 

i've got a magnaflow 3 in 2.5 dual out if you want it. it was loud and i couldn't stand it, so i took it off. it looks a bit nasty now, but i'll sell it to you cheap. shipping might be expensive though.
