Questions about usable wheel sizes..
Hey guys...
I'm new to the truck scene. I traded my 2006 BMW 330i in for my new 2007 Ram 1500 Quad Cab, 4.7...
I am an ASE certified Master Technician, specializing in BMW, so I'm pretty vehicle savvy, but I don't know the in's-out's of this truck yet.
My question is, what's the minimum diameter wheel I can run? I've got a 2x44.7 auto, with towing package and anti-slip differential. I've got 17" wheels right now.
I ask because I want to put offroading wheels/tires on, and it seems the options are rather limited for 17" sets, so I figured I could get 16", but it looks like the brakes may be too big. =(
Also curious what the maximum tire diameter is that we can run without any mods. I think I read 33"somewhere on this site, but not certain.
Also, what's a good width?
Would a 31x10.0 16" be appropriate, and look good, on my not-lifted Ram quad cab?
Thanks for putting up with my noob questions.

RE: Questions about usable wheel sizes..
yes he is right about the 17+ and ive even heard of some people having trouble with aftermarket 17s not clearing the calipers. and most good tire shops will let you test fit them before you buy, so id definantly do that if i were you. and yes, i know im probably preaching to the choir, with you being ASE certified and all. and i believe on the newer style rams, you can fit 35s with little or no rubbing on the 4x4s just by cranking the torsion bars up. i would go with 33s though. congrats on the new truck, and be sure to get some pics up soon.
