Default Onboard Air and Horn Mounting

Hi fellas! I normally post to the Cumminsdiesel forum, but this question has nothing to do withthe engine.

My friendly UPS guy just dropped off a Viair air kit and a Grover air horn that I ordered from Air Horns of Texas. Links: Air kit. Grover air horn.

I guess the compressor and 2.5-gal tank should mount nicely on the inside of the frame rail under the bed. Do any of you guys have suggestions for mounting the horns? There's room behind the front bumper, but I'm not sure to what I should bolt it. I don't see much space under the hood.

Depends on how big your horns are. The longest horn I have in the set is 14 inches so I have mine mounted behind the front bumper pointing down to reflect the sound off the road. Makes for a loud and obnoxious sound. Be careful with your compressor though, I fried one compressor having it mounted on my frame rail. Got all wet and the motor and the switch just quit. So now I have it in my bed. I have a cap though so it makes it a little easier. Your tank can go on the frame but I would make sure to protect you compressor the best you can. A good place for your compressor might be in your rear tire wheel well, then buy the wheel liners for the truck and this will protect the compressor. I am going to eventually change to this. I got this idea from my local dealer once he saw the compressor in the bed.

Good luck with the install, I love mine!!! Use it EVERYDAY down here in Florida......

Do a search on the forum... since you aren't normally on the gasser side of things, there just seems to be a lot of posts lately on airhorns... lots of threads with pics... I am jealous, I want some. Probably get ticketed though.
