Hi i have a 2005 Dodge ram 1500 hemi with about 62,000 miles on it...The past couple weeks the car has been idling funny off and on...this week it has gotten worse and has even stalled out on me...I have heared other dodge ram trucks have had this problem..but havent heard what the problem was. I replaced the spark plugs today and cleaned out the throttle body but i couldnt find the Idle air control motor (if they have one on the truck). But if any of you have had a simillar problem or know the solution please reply back....THanks

Built into the TB, along with the TPS. Non-serviceable except to replace the TB. Running like that and no codes thrown? Could be bad fuel, low fuel pressure, dirty fuel system overall. Try running Sea-foam through it as well, can't hurt.

It may be the EGR valve. I and a couple of members here have the same issuse!! Do the on off, on off, on off with the key and read the code that flashes on your odometer screen. If it reads P0404 then that is your problem.

yes it did actually throw a code saying there was a couple of missfires in some of the cylinders. I replaced all the 16 of the spark plugs sprayed some of throttle body cleaner to clean out any gunked up stuff that may be causing it to do that...I started it up and it ran alright but after it warmed up it idled all the way down to about 600 rpms...so i turned it off and back on and it went right back up to about 900 rpms when i gave it some gas and let off it went straight back to 600 rpms....its not running like it used to im gonna give it some time but is it supose to run that low in the rpms at idle?

For future reference, there is a whole TSB on cleaning the TB, big part of it is not to use TB cleaner. It's too harsh , use brake cleaner only!

RE: problem with my 2005 hemi ram
I have a 2005 1500 Hemi with 45,000 miles. My idle was fluctuating and I had stalling. I took it to the dealer who flashed the PCM with updated programming (a fix that helps some people). That didn't help me. I changed the plugs and wires per the dealer suggestion. No help. I cleaned the throttle body with brake cleaner. No help. I put seafoam in the TB and gas tank. No help.
Even though I was not getting a code, I changed the EGR anyway becuase at this point I wanted to trade in the truck for something reliable. Since I did that about a month ago, it has been running great. The truck kept running rougher until it was stalling about once a day until I changed the EGR. Some of the other things I did as listed above have helped others out. Good luck.

I think your on to something, especially if the idle change or stalling doesnt start until the vehicle has warmed up. EGR sounds very possible.

RE: problem with my 2005 hemi ram
I had a similar problem. 05 1500 w/ 47000 miles.Truck rpm fluxuates betweem 1100 and 1400 rpm while driving. Feels like its misfiring or something and bucks a little bit. Sometimes when I let off from that postion, the truck stalls. Brought it to the dealer, they replaced the whole TB. Same thing. I will be going back tomorrow so I came here to get some ideas since the dealer never seems to be able to fix a problem. At least in my experience, no matter what brand I drive, if there is a weird issue with it and Ive brought it to the dealer, they can never figure out anything.
