That's why I use panty liners, it traps all the crap and still makes my engine feel great without that "not so fresh feeling".
And how.... The 3 adhesive strips keeps it firmly mounted to me hand, too....!!

The Kleenex or maybe your 'rag' in your case, was to wipe the crap off allowed thru by maybe a K&N.

the high mileage example of use with a 'dirt hog' (boy now that name fits except when it ****s into the engine) without rings or valve replacement is a great feat. Not many can claim that with the risk involved. How often do you re-oil if you drive some on dirt roads?

My reference to name brands was not a categoric statement, please read it again.

The marketing folks psychology is working well on you.

As for the environment, there are lot worse materials land filled than an air filter. What about the oil used to re-oil and the poor gas mileage (more petroleum) when the grease ball gets clogged because it wasn't checked weekly?

You still haven't said why it is better.

Just focus on the debate issue.
All very lame in the response department their lilhemi. I can see you are reaching for straws now.

As for the rag, this is funny. Umm nope I’d not use anything at all, if I had to I would just spray it. But mine isn’t dirty or oily and yeah I live in FL so dust and dirt roads are everywhere. If it looks dirty I clean it, pretty simple don’t cha think. What a concept!

Yeah you need to reread yer “categorical statement†it was pretty much a blanket. So are we back peddling now? LoL.... Oh yeah here it is.....

Just like oil brands and other products that may not have an inherent advantage over a less advertized name. Seems to be human nature to follow and identify with big publicity and maybe a race car driver. If Tony Stewart. Peyton Manning, John Force, etc. didn't have the poor bastards that buy on faith and smooth talk buying some really marginal products, they'd be poor bastards also! That's just what makes the world turn though.

As I stated and you did not have the capacity to figure out was, I have been using these products way before your adolescent Pied Piper Marketing (Don’t give into the man) mentality came into being.

Worst thing in land fills is PAPER do a lil research. I recycle my oil. Are you stating that you don’t and are breaking the law by dumping it in the trash or on the ground to taint the water supply? You go boy! Stick it to the Man! And the rest of us too while yer at it.

The following was actually in my prior post but I removed it just for this occasion.
My brother bought a brand new truck in 1979. He has used nothing but K&N air filters. It has over 2 million miles on it and only had minor maintenance. i.e. K&N Air Filters, oil change, tires, beltsetc. His son drives it to this day. Humm… Do you like apples? How do like them apples? Focus on that.

I get Outstanding gas milage 20 to 21 on the Highway, what do you get with those super duper Wal-mart air filters?

You know, you started this with your anti K&N crusade opinion which I see as -you drew 1st blood. This thread was about a good point and was actually pretty helpful, but you kinda jacked it into a personal K&N hater opinion thing.

You are like a spoiled child with your remarks angry at the world and you are avoiding what vehicle you have and/or what you have done to it. (Got something to hide?)

Hello.
If I'm following right
What you have pictured and cleaned was the IAT (intake air temprature) sensor.
It's about a $15 part cleaning it shouldn't have much impact on mpg.

OTOH. There is the MAP (manifold pressure) sensor that is fairly expensive & prob very fragile. I'd wonder if cleaning it might return some mpg improvement?

What might have caused the improvement was the air filter, unless you reset the PCM it takes quite a while for the PCM to learn and adjust itself to the new airflow.
If you disconnected the battery for awhile when you cleaned that sensor, that also leads to a kind of a reset - quick relearn process. Just resetting every so often can retrun gains.
No matter the reason that's an awesome increasein mpg. well done, that will save you a ton at the pump.

Hey Pappy,

I have an 04 1500. Vehicle number 78 since the '35 Chevy coupe at age 14. I've used the same oil since then. Champion. TBN of around 13 if that means anything to you. Have been changing my own oil for a long time. Each change goes into 55 gal. drums out back for recycle. My rig weighs 4520# plus driver. Have full front air dam(NASCAR type) and rear Pro Stock type wing. Bed liner, Tonneau, roll pan, lowered, 1 ton sway bar, 17" wheels, 3.92 gear, SC ( still tuning),
traction bars (Sure Launch), electric fan, 180 stat, and a very large free flowing paper element air filter. Have Kooks headers, super traps, belly pan, Transgo, and RR rockers to go.

The '35 is still in the garage. 3 window all stock.

Where were we?

Iapologize for not knowing the difference between a MAF or IAT sensor before making this post and appreciate the tipto notuse panties as an air cleaner.

Pappy do you havethe5 or 6 speed transmission? How about the rearaxle ratio?Do thenumber of transmission gearsand the rear axle ratio the two factors that affect HEMI mpg the most?

Thanks.

David,

I have the 545RFE transmission (5 speed)
The 3.92 gears and 20" rims were part of the Thunder Road Package
MDS plays a part in the ol MPG department, but I'd say it was the overall Mods.

I can get better than 21 MPG under the right conditions.

I really wanted to put a functional Ram Air hood on, but after doing the Jet 180 Thermostat, I am re considering putting on a Cold Air Intake.
