Im confused...There is so many different kits out there. Which one is the best, what are you guys using and what are your thoughts about them. This wont void my warranty will it?? Im looking at the K+N for the simple fact of knowing of the company. Is there another kit out there thats similar to this and cheaper. What can I expect out of a CAI, HP gains, any extra noise or what....

K&N is the one I will go with. They make a quality product and have been well known for years. I've heard good things about Airaid too though. It will make your truck a bit noisier from the engine compartment but most of what I've heard from the guys that have it around here its a pretty cool sound. Give it more of an aggressive sound. As far as HP you'll notice a little better throttle response and it might help a little with MPG if you have exhuast to go with it. More in and more out always helps.

The K&N intake really is not the best intake out there. If you go over to dodgetruckworld where all the fast dodges hang out (sub 14 and 13second trucks) you will see none of them have the K&N. I know K&N is commonly used as they are the biggest intake company out there but I have read stories of parts of them chipping off and going into the throttle body. I also had a K&N on my 2nd gen ram and it just felt really cheap.
The intakes I see most commonly used on the fast trucks are the AEM, AFE and the true flow. I had the volant on my truck before the true flow and it looked great but didn't do anything performance wise. I always said it did because I was in denial that I spent that much money and got nothing though. I personally love the true flow and it utilizes the stock air box and uses a filter with more surface area and filtering ability than a cone guaze filter like all the other intakes use.

I dont like K&N very much I had a few of their filters on mytwo chevysand they all ended up drying out and rotting (yes they were well maintained and were cleaned and re-oiled lightly every other oil change). And I just dont like the look of them. I went with the AFE Hemi High Breather and it works wonderfully and has the biggest filter and tubeI've seen for my 05' 1500. Plus it only replaces the stock air box and keeps the HEMI hat uunder the hood. Its a little pricey but well worth it in my opinion.

HEHE, that's what I meant. He should make a sticky for each aftermarket mod idea.
