Default 2007 4x4 5.7L, are you towing???

With my new 2007 QCab, 5.7L 4X4, 20" wheels, Big Horn Edition ..I've got a 30 ft 5200lb travel trailer.. We did a small trial run towing...My first thought was WOW, Using tow haul at 60mph the tach showed about 1900... Thats super...
I would like to know from others about there towing... Good points/Bad points towing... Do you use/not use tow haul..?? We are new with Dodge..At this point I'm pleased with the toughness of this truck... Now tell about your towing...

Thanks, Doug

i'd be interested in hearing more on this as well. in a few weeks i'll be driving my QC 1500 Hemi about 2,200 miles with a loaded trailer. at the very least i'll post about it when i get there. we need more feedback!

also, any advice on what size trailer it's best to use the tow/haul or is ir better to always have it on when towing any size/weight trailer?

As far as i'm concerned... Tow/haul Mode should be used when the tranny can't seem to find a comfortable gear... But if your runnin as usual...Just let it be... But if you find the truck struggling... Then use the Tow/haul mode of take off the Overdrive... But good luck with your trucks...

My 07 is a 4x2, but I tow my boat easily which is roughly 5000lbs. The Ram tows much better than my 04 Avalanche did. The power is much better and very noticeable. I use the tow/haulmost ofthe time since 95% of my towing is in city traffic and lots of traffic lights and traffic. On highway driving, I usually turn it off if the tranny keeps shifting. You can toast the tranny if you let it keep shifting.

Slapshot, Nice photo...I noticed your not useing an Equalizer hitch... I've got the same receiver.. It's top weight rateing w/o an equalizer hitch Is 5,000 lbs....???With an Equalizer It's rated up to 12,000 lbs tow...Not being picky...have you had any towing problems...???

You are being to picky, I can't say I've ever seen an equalizer hitch on a boat trailer. I pull a 31ft travel trailer with a GVWR of 7700lbs and I don't use an equalizer hitch. It all depends on your suspension setup and how well your vehicle handles the load. So if it feels fine and you're comfortable pulling it, I say don't worry about an equalizer hitch.

I have only flat towed the Jeep Wrangler, so no tongue weight worth mentioning. During my first tow, I was careful to stay around 50 mph for break in during the first 500 miles of towing. The manual suggested not towing until 500 vehicle miles were on the truck, then keep at 50 mph for 500 miles (I was at about half weight of the truck's capacity, but played it safe).

All I can say is that towing the additional 4k behind it and stopping was not an issue (remember 50 mph, although I EASILY nailed 65+ mph or so as I got closer to home for a couple of miles).

If I could land a tandom axle flatbed that kept the weight (of the trailer) at about 1k, I would trailer the Jeep.....I agree with the rest on the tow/haul mode. I only used it a couple of times uphill in a head wind for several miles and then went back to od.

No towing issues at all. I've been towing 5000+ lb boats for over 10 years and have never had an equalizer hitch. We have 2 boats at work that weigh around 10,000 lbs and we just use a class V hitch, no equalizer. I have never seen an equalizer hitch used with boats for some reason.
