Hemi or CTD?
I'm new to this forum and would like your opinionson a purchaseI'm about to make. I'm considering a new 07'2500 QuadCab SLT,4x4, Auto, Longbed, 5.9L HO Cummins Turbo Diesel. A Dodge dealer in NC,is sellingthis truck onlinefor $33,185.00 plus a $289.00 processing fee,the sticker price is a little over $42K. Is this a good price?
As a former powerstroke ownerand I am interested in buying another dieselmainly for theadded MPG over anequally powered gasser. I don't do a lot of towing, butI do needa truckto tow a 7000# skidsteer4 or 5timesa year and I like the durability of3/4 tontrucks.
Before I buy a new diesel though, I wanted to ask what the deal iswith the Hemi powered Dodges. I'veseen quite a few good deals on used 2500 QC 4x4 Hemi's. I some cases as much as $8000.00 lessthan thesame truck withthe CTD. Why so cheap?Your opinions will be greatly appreciated!

just because the CTD is a better engine then the hemi......the CTD will also last a lot longer then the hemi so if you plan on keeping the truck for a while i would pay the extra cost and go wiht the CTD...
the price difference is simply the engine. the hemi is a great motor, as is the deisel. it really depends on what your going to use it for, if you are only getting it due it better gas mileage, just remember its going to take a very long time to make up that 8000 in gas.
Sounds like a pretty good deal, and if you are already familiar with diesels, could be the way to go. The cummins is alot more durable than the powerstroke so you should be happy there. As for the price, remember there is a $5k price difference in the diesel and hemi engine option, thats part of you 8k.

I love my Hemi, but I have to admit that the next time around (which won't be for a loooong time) I will probably get a Cummings.
MPG will be the driving factor, but you can't ignore its' durability and power.

Here'smy thinking on the additional cost of the diesel. It may costmorefor the diesel engine, butthe truck will always be worth at least that much more for as long as you own it, right?. Plus, the MPG's are better a long the way. I'll make upthedifference plus somewhen I sell it and save at the pump in the mean time! Just my opinion!

I've researched and looked for awhile and theres only one reason that I may not go diesel. that is because I like driving rcsb and have always driven rcsb. can't get that with a CTD. but still the CTD is winning i'll just have to settle for qcsb even tho i don't like it as much as rcsb
