Default rear end gears?

as far as factory gearing goes is 3.73 the most common i looked and found i have 3.55 and giving me all the torque i need well in light of this question i find my truck shifting all the time back and forth losing speed yada yada now i do know that my tranny is pretty weak at this point so my quesetion is would the tranny becable of making this a problem with the constant shifting and losing speeds?

Like said, slow down, pay attention to what you type so that we actually know what your question is.

Many of us can't read IM gibberish.

At this point, we could only guess.

yeah sorry about that i was all drugged up on painkillers for my back this morning when i wrote that. anyways what i was wonderin if the 3.73 where the most common gears in the dodge trucks and if my 3.55 where a different option.and i thought the lower they went the lower the gearing?. so i figured that the 3.55 would more that enuff to move my truck even with heavy mud tires on as i find my truck constantly shifting and loosing speeds. my transmission also is kinda screwed right now so i was just curious as to what would cause that be the tranny or the rear end? hope this is better for you guys

the 3.55's make the motor work harder than the 3.73's but if you want to change gears that small of a change isent worth it in my opinion. I would go with 4.10's.

what size tire are you running?

When replacing the ring and pinion it will also change the way your tach will be reading too. you may want to ck with your local dealer for any flash updates 1st. It may still be cover under 5/60 or 8/80 emission warranty.

your shifting problem sounds more like the tranny than gears. IIRC you have 33" tires correct? If that is the case you would benefit most from a set of 4.10 gears. $.55 is the most common set of gears for our trucks, but it may become that 3.92 is the most common very soon due to so many big horn editions being made.
