Default My First Ram / Pics

About two weeks ago I drove onto the local Chevy lot to see about trading in my '04 Silverado 2500 HD on a new one. When I got there I noticed a white '06 1500 Megacab on the used lot andwalked over to itbecause I thought it looked nice.A salesman approached and asked if I was interested in the truck and I replied that I was not because I needed a 2500 to haul my trailers. He started telling me that this was a megacab and came on a 2500 chassis and only had 4,000 miles on it. He said that a guy just traded it in because his wife thought it was too largeBeing a skeptic I drove next door to the Dodge dealershipto find out if my chain was being jerked. The first person that I spoke with was the salesman that had sold the truck new.He remembered it because it was aSterling special edition and had seen it sitting on the Chevy lot that morning. He confirmed thatit was identical in every way to the 2500 with a 5.7 litre Hemi. He even took the time to show me some documentation to that fact and walked me around the lot to compare the ones that they had in stock. He said that the truck had listed new for about $43,900.00.I then spoke with the service manager and got the same story. Being thoroughly convinced I drove back to the Chevy dealership andput on my bargainingface. They started out at $29,900.00 and came down to $26,900.00. Ibought it, but decided to keep my Chevy for my son. (he wanted the dodge...yeah right!) I drove itfrom central Florida to Atlanta and back that weekend and loved it!! The airconditioner could be better, but overall the nicest truck I've ever driven. I did swap out the 1500 emblems for a set of 2500's simply to avoid having to explain that it's a 3/4 ton pickup to everyone.I suspect that I'll never go back to Chevy. This new Megacab is the bomb!!!!!!!!!

Nice ride, and GREAT deal!!! As the previous owner of 2 Chevy Z71's, I can say with confidence that you won't ever regret not gettinga Chevy and owning a Hemi.
As far as the A/C goes, I never really noticed that mine wasn't cold enough, but I just recently added both an e-fan (Flex-A-Lite 180 Extreme) and went to a Jet 180* Thermostat, and I'm not sure which mod did it, or maybe a combo of the two, but along with the benifits I'm receiving that I got them for, I have noticed that my A/C is blowing much colder too. Maybe something you could look into?

Nice! I'd heard the megas had problems with A/C. Makes sense about the E-fan. I'd imagine that taking the fan off the engine has let the a/c compressor work more efficiently. Good job!

You guys with your Mega Cabs......making me all jealous.......jerks......

Nice looking truck. The 2500 is a little different than the 1500. Bigger axles, brakes, suspension.I'm not sure if the tranny's are different. I'm pretty sure the towing capacity on the 2500 is more than the 1500. If youre not towing super big trailers you'll probably be fine with the 1500.

Megas are a different case altogether. All megas, regardless of badging, are built on the 2500 chassis.

Looks good and a great deal you got there. Did the truck come with those wheels, tires, and nerf bars. If so, you got one hell of a deal. As far as the AC goes, the only thing I can recommend is to make sure that the rear vents are always facing up. If not, it will take a long time to cool down the cab. Also, get those windows tinted. Especially living in Flordia.
