Default Spare Tire

OK. The spare tire on my 04 Ram Quad, 4x4 is a 17inch. My Ram has 20 inch tires all round. If I want to carry a 20inch spare will the existing mounts and tire winch underneath hold the weight and size of a 20 inch spare and rim?

My 2006 has a 20" spare. I would expect that there isn't much of a difference in the existing mounts between my truck and yours. It would be silly to have different spare mounts for each truck coming out of the factory.

I'm surprised you got shorted on the spare tire size. Mine's an '04 with 20's and my spare is a 20 (but with that ****ty steel rim).

are you the original owner, cause if not the original owner could have put the 20's on after and not wanted to fork over the extra cash for a 5th rim, or if u are the dealer prob put on the 20's and also didn't want to spend the extra money...from the factory if it had 20" rims then the spare was a 20" so ur truck came with 17" from the factory for sure. but neways back to ur question yeah u should have no problem the winch system should be the exact same for all rams

If you are the orig owner, here's what prob happened:

a dealer took 4 20" spares off new trucks, put the 17" wheels from a 5th truck as spares on the 4 trucks,
then had free 20" tire upgrade for the 5th truck. even if they had to buy rims......the tires were free.

dealer tricks

He doesn't have the stock type wheels, I would guess his originals were the 17"ers, then he upgraded to 20". Spare 20" tire/wheel will fit in the well just fine, problem you have is making sure its the same overall height as your regular wheel/tire (don't know what size tires you have)
