Trailer Towing
Ok so Ive been scanning over the posts and looking for anything to help out my piece of mind. Iam in the process of buying a toyhauler trailer thats 29ft andhas a dry weight of 4900lbs max load is 8000lbs with a hitch weight of 710lbs. I have the class IV hitch and per the manual says that is good to 1200lbs and per Dodge the 07 Ram 4x4 QC 5.7 is good to 8500lbs. Now I doubt I willhit 8500lbs, im only assuming i will be at 7500lbs at the most but will my truck hold up? I know itsgot the motor for it and Iunderstand the fuel mileage is gonna suck but other than that what should I be looking for. Ihave towed with it previously (flatbed w/ liftedFS Bronco) and it was heavy and you could tell it was there but I went up some good inclines at 60mph. Any advice would be great. I will be upgrading to 2500 Cummins but it wont be for awhile.
Here is a link to my post. Given a choice, I sure as hell wouldn't do it again........I really am starting to hate my truck.
Guess I gotta buck up & get the CTD, huh?

I should add that the Hemi was NOT the "weak link" in this ordeal, it was the 545RFE tranny that made it almost unbearable.
My next truck (read CTD) will definitely have a manual transmission. That way, if it's in the wrong gear, it's my fault, and can be easily remedied.
