they do similar thing with the hybrids, But they have worked on the possiblitiy of shuting the engine of when stopped past a certain point. It would automatically restart when you push on the gas. With some work, it could be seemless in operation.

I've got 2 friends with 4.7 4x4's, one a RC and the other QC. The RC gets a good bit better gas mileage than the one with the QC. They both live in Ga. and are cousins, so it's easy to compare thetwo.
The one with the QC gets about the same gas mileage I got when my Hemi was mostly stock, but since I've modded it up and weighed it down quite a bit (suspension lift w/sub frame, 35" tires, winch, grill guard, etc) he's about 2 mpg better than me now.
Funny thing is the RC truck has factory tow pkg. and 3.92 gears, the QC is running 3.55's and he added his hitch after (sad, because with the extra weight, he really needs the better gearing). The guy with the QC has a boat, nothing big, but maybe 1500-1700 lbs. and those 3.55 don't cut it, towing performance sucks, no oomph, and it pulls his MPG's down to around single digits, not to mention his tranny is constantly searching for the right gear.
I think the two things you could do to get better performance (short of dropping in a Hemi) and increased MPG is to get it breathing better (CAI, throttle spacer, good exhaust) and change the gearing (4.10's would be ideal for tire height from stock to 33" and 4.56 for anything taller).

I want to thank everyone who has replied.
Everyone has been sayingto geta CAI.
Which one out there performs the best?
Also I so a website out that offers a package for 549.99 that will give you 48 more horsepower. It includes a CAI, throttle body spacer and a reprogrammer. Has anyone bought one of these systems and is it worth the money?

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Waste of money that package is. TB spacer only adds a little whistle to the intake. Doesn't do ****. The reprogrammer is probably a Jet Module, which are not worth the money. Your computer will reset to the factory settings after a few miles running with the Jet module.

Agreed, throttle body spacer is useless on a hemi. Do the CAI and get a Superchips Flashpaq programmer or get the CAI and wait a little while on the programmer (the Superchips does a great job and will increase HP as well as tranny shifting) but there may be a better one on the horizon from a company called Diablo. So you might want to sit back a bit on that and see if the Diablo is all the company has said it will be.
Also, as I stated before, check on your gears, if they are 3.92's you are OK, but with your lack of any oomph while towing, I suspect they may be 3.55's and if so, they need to go!

Check out yer gears. Just going to a bigger tire on my truck dropped me down some in MPG. I had stock 20s with 3.92 gears. I now have 17s with the same gears. Was getting 14.5 - 15 and now getting 13 - 14. Cold air intakes come down to opinions. Everyone's is the best.. I have heard well of Volant's, but they are at the top in price. Being that you own a 02, you are able to get a Superchips microtuner programmer for about $350 - $400. Also look at changeing yer headers. JBA and Gibson have them for the 4.7. Good luck!

I can't see it, especially with what you've listed there. If you're willing to spend that kind of money, go for a gear swap. If you keep the factory LSD, if you have LSD, and just do the gears, you could probably get that done for that same cost. I'm praying for the day I can find about $1500 laying around so I can do a gear/LSD swap and cat back exhaust. Then I'm shooting for cams and intake if Airram can get his hands on any more of the H/O intakes.
