bad squeaking from rear end
Well I'm a broke college student and I pretty much enjoy doing everything myself so it works out, but I have a squeak from my rear end Sometimes it sounds like its on both sides. Usually squeaksbut it stops for a few seconds here and there. When i take off from a dead stop or make turns while with my foot on the pedal the rear end sort of clunks. any ideas. I was thinking maybe wheel bearings with the squeaking and all. any help would be greatly appreciated. O and I am also new to the forums.

Need more info about your truck, ifit has thestock LSD, it could be the dreaded "c-clip" issue...
would pull the diff cover off and take a looksee, make sure the fluid is clear and there is no broken pieces of metal or any other debris in there... Could not hurt and you'd be replacing your rear diff. fluid at the same time and that never hurts...

well i've had this same type of problem twice....first time it was cause the axle rotated upwards toward the truck bed and cause one hell of vibration and also a loud noise (on decel only)....this second time i replaced the u-joints cause they were gettin to the point of needing replacement so i figured that might be the problem but the noise is still there, however...i have found my problem once again.......damn axle has rotated upwards and is pointing towards the bed of the truck.......this might prolly wont affect you if your truck isnt lowered, but it's something ya could check...ya never know lol
but yeah, i would pull the cover and take a peek...wont hurt nothing and fresh fluid is always a good thing

Well I shook the rear wheels from side to side and I could hear a little it of a noise, and feel it move a little. Once in a while when I take off you can sort of feel the rear end lag a little than catch up. But I already replaced the rear u joint, thing was stuck in there, and ended up bending the bar on the press trying to get it out after cutting 2 sides of it. ha well, I will take the diff cover off and put some new lube in it hopefully i dont see anything out of the ordinary.
