Can anyone confirm this info from my local dealer.
Have an 07 1500 and Iinstalled a used bluetooth mirror, REC nav radio and factory amp, Leather wheel with stereo controls and an overhead console with the Homelink. All parts are from late model dodge or grand cherokee. Everything works except the steering controls. I had to build wire harnesses for the amp, speakers and the Bluetooth mirror and run two wires for the steering controls.
I had to take the truck to the dealer for a code 1089 temp problem (thermostat stuck open) and I asked them to program the PCM for the stereo controls and make the mileage on the OH console match the odometer. They said I had the stereo controls wired correctly and that they are getting the appropriate voltages but because the truck didn't come with the stereo controls the PCM cannot be programmed to make them work. They also could not reprogram the mileage for the OH console.
Having spent 20 years as an ASE master tech working in various dealerships I'm not so sure they know what they are talking about. Hell for all I know they had the lube man put a Tstat in it then clear the code and gave it back to me. Anyway if anyone can give me more info it would be much appreciated.
This is my second dodge 1500... First oneis a 1997 with about 130K on the odo and no major problems in 10 years.

i guess i dont understand why they wouldnt be able to do that.... i'd try taking it to a different dodge dealer and see what they tell you. You could even call a few of them and tell them what you did and ask them what they suggest.
As far as I know, the overhead (at least in my truck) does not HAVE an Odo. It's got it's own Trip odo, but not a total vehicle miles Odo.
For the steering wheel controls, there is the possibility that your PCM is not equipped to handle the steering wheel controls, no matter the programming. You may have to (if possible) change the whole PCM to another part number.
Not sure though, I don't really have any Dodge experience, I'm a BMW tech.

It's not the PCM, its the BCM (Body computer) that controls that. If your ride came with any of these 3 (keyless entry, steering wheel radio controls or fog lights) then you have a premium BCM that can handle stuff. I'm kinda surprised that the steering wheel controls aren't working. Did you change the clockspring, or did you wire them directly? With the trip odo's, they don't match between the two unless you sync them at the same time, they're designed to operate independently of each other (2 separate trip odometers). I did some of the mods you did to my wife's Liberty, once they clockspring was changed, the other wiring is already part of the harness. Plugged everything together, reconnected the battery and poof, steering wheel controls.
